Have a case of the Mondays? Hate your job? Just want to get the paycheck and RUN?!? This is the movie for you! Office Space has dialogue that made me think of "Swingers" - which is also recommended. The difference is most everyone can relate to job woes. If your boss is "one of those" bosses who tells you to do something, waits for you to say you'll do it, and then tacks on an "okay?" as if he didn't hear you at all - trust me, you can relate to this movie.
Ron Livingston, a Brendan Fraser look-alike, plays Peter Gibbons, a computer programmer who hates his job. His solution? To do what the rest of us only dream about. David Herman plays Michael Bolton - no relation, and Ajay Naido plays Samir, both Gibbons' co-workers. Gary Cole plays his "yeah, great" boss.
Jennifer Aniston is Joanna, a waitress as dissatisfied with her job as the guys in this movie. Watch for one amazing performance by Stephen Root as Milton. You might not even recognize him, but it's the same guy - "Jimmy James" - who owned the radio station on Talk Radio, the television show.
Office Space is rated R for language and brief nudity. There's also a rap soundtrack that is doubtless marked restricted for underage listeners. I liked this low-budget movie for its revenge-factor, but if you like your job, or you're in management, don't see it - like Dilbert, you just won't understand.
Thumb's Up!
