Chapter 15

Katalina stopped in the doorway. It swung behind her softly. Her bottom lip hung. The shades
were drawn and candles illuminated the room. Incense tickled her nose. Michael sat on the futon in a
dark blue silk shirt unbuttoned. On the coffee table were two crystal glasses with deep red wine. “ Hi,” his voice was low and sexy. “ Hi,” she let her book bag fall onto the floor. “ Come here,” he held his arms out to her. She hurried into his arms and pressed her lips to his. Her shoes and calf socks came off first and
then her skirt. She pushed back his silk shirt. “ No drink?” he said braking away from her kisses. “ Alright,” she said eager to please. He held out the goblet and she sipped it. She smiled and he put the glass down. He flipped on the
radio to a seductive song. He kissed her again. She ran her lips down his neck and the pulled back.
She took the flute of wine in her hand and dribbled a few drops down his chest. She let her tongue
run over his chest. His breath hardened as she began to suck his nipples. She bit him sharply. He gave
a loud moan. “ What is going on?” a voice boomed. Michael looked up and Katalina became motionless. Mr.
Verret stood before them. He looked stern and his arms were crossed. Katalina slid away and turned to face her father. “ The door was open,” was all he could say. “ Father—” “ Get up!” She jumped up frightened. “ What are you doing?” “ You’re sleeping with this man?” he shot back at her. Then he turned to Michael. “ You’re
screwing my daughter?! I hate to tell you but the law’s eighteen.” “ It’s sixteen,” he said matter-o-factly. “ So?” “ Father! Stop it!” He grabbed her wrist. “ You’re hurting me!” “ Come with me,” he yanked her again. “ Father!” “ Let go of her!’ Michael stood. “ You’re hurting her.” “ Listen to me,” Mr. Verret said his eyes blazing. “ Leave me daughter alone! I know this support
group. You go and I won’t call the cops. I like you, or rather I used to like you.” ‘ Father!” Katalina tried to pull away. “ Come on!” he pulled Katalina, and she tried to pull away. But he pulled her out the door. She
gave Michael a last desperate look. “ Dad made a fool out of me!” Katalina weeped at school the next day. “ I told you,” Desree said. “ BACK OFF!!” Katalina barked. Several people turned and looked at them. Katalina marched off brushing the tears from her eyes. “ Thank you, Desree,” Devra said sarcastically. “ We’re suppose to be making her feel better, not
making it worse.” Desree watched Devra hurry after Katalina. Why couldn’t they see? They were in trouble. Her
father was furious and he was thirty. Thirty! And she was on the edge of seventeen. What could come
from that? She was just going to end up getting hurt. She was forbidden to see him. Desree shook her
head with her thought. She was forbidden too see him. What was she going to do now?
