My Children

When I saw this poem by Jeannette Smith, memories flooded my soul as I thought
of my own three sons when they were small children.  A mother's prayers never ceases.

My Children

The children were nestled all safe in their beds,
When I knelt down to pray,
Asking God's blessing on each little one,
From dawn to the close of the day.

The angels had gathered round each little bed,
Sweet peace had flooded my soul,
For God was protecting the ones that I love,
From memory, this story is told.

But time has slipped by and the children have grown,
And now they have little ones of their own.
I thank God for the children He gave me to love,
For they are a blessing from Heaven above.

At night by my bedside I mention each name,
Asking God's blessing on each one the same.
When my time is over, I'll rest in peace,
For God's watching over my children for me.

Song
How You Should Pray

by Gilberto Barreto
Matthew 6:8-13

(Introduction)

The Father knows
what you need before you ask Him.
This, then, is how you should pray,
you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your Kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread,
give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors
as we also have forgiven
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

(Orchestra solo)

The Father knows
what you need before you ask Him.
This, then, is how you should pray,
you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your Kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread,
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors
as we also have forgiven
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
