"Maura can you hand me those sleeping bags." I yelled from the trunk of my mom's van. Me along with my 8 friends were heading off for a relaxing weekend of camping in the mountains.
"Jen, come on do we have to go on this stupid camping trip? You know I don't wanna be eaten alive by bugs. Why don't you all go and I'll stay here and be out of your hair. In fact I'll just go over to Justin's house."
"No, remember we're doing this to get away from the guys because we haven't given them any time alone. They don't know where we are going, we don't know where they are going I think we can all live without them for 3 days." Lauren said.
"Well can I at least take my phone to call Justin when I miss him?" Maura whined.
"No, no, no" Cindy said taking the phone away from her, "We're all going to miss them but come on how often do we have a girls only weekend?"
"Well last weekend we all went out to that club and met up with....well the other day at the movies.....or...well....never I guess." Maura searched her mind for something to support herself.
"Exactly, now listen, Monday we'll be back and we've all got our little dates. Until then get the bags Maura we're pulling out in 5." I said as I walked back into the house to get my bag of clothes.
"There is no way out of this is there?" she asked Stef.
"Nope. Listen if I can do without talking to Lance, my best friend, for 3 whole days I think you can deal without Justin. We're all sacrificing but don't worry Justin will be here when we get back." Stef reassured her. "Now put that bag in the trunk and get in the van here comes Jen."
"Got everything we need girls?" Candi asked as she browsed through the trunk.
"Yea we've checked and double checked." Becky yelled from her seat in the van.
"Then lets pull this baby out of the driveway." I said getting behind the wheel. The girls drove 25 minutes away to the base of the mountain with the radio blaring and everyone was singing including the still irritated Maura. I pulled into the ranger station off the side of the road and went in to get directions.
"Can I help you Miss?" The ranger asked when I walked into the cabin.
"Yea, I'm renting a cabin for the weekend from a Mrs. Woods and she told me I could pick up the information and keys here."
"Oh Mrs. Woods, she's such a sweet woman. Must be a big weekend for people to come to the mountains she's got 8 different cabins rented out this weekend. Anyways." He said as he reached under the desk and skimmed through some papers. "What's the reservation for?"
" Winters, Jennifer Winters."
"Alrighty here's the envelope she left for you. Inside should be information, your receipt, and 2 keys to your cabin."
"Thank you so much."
"No problem, hope you have a great weekend."
I walked back out to the van where everyone sat eagerly waiting to see this crappy cabin in the woods. The road twisted and turned in every imaginable way and everywhere you looked was sticks, rocks, trees, and leaves. The very sights made Maura ill.
Finally we arrived at our cabin, #4, and quickly unloaded and were ready to get inside the "dump". I pulled out one of the keys and opened the door to a beautiful cabin. This place was plush, we're talking like royalty, fireplace, couches, tv, all out kitchen, actual bed complete with sheet, not a speck of dust to be seen.
"I take back everything I said. This place is more than ok" Maura said.
"Wow. I heard this place was a god getaway but damn look at this! We're never going to want to leave" I commented walking to a bedroom nearby to put my bags down.
