Gamefreak, Nintendo, and Creatures Inc. joined to make a type of RPG in which a player tries to catch 150 Pokemon. At first there was only one version, the Green version. The game was pretty popular so the decided to release more Pokemon games. They were a hit! You had to own a link cable and all the games to catch all the Pokemon though. Unless of course you had friend with a different version than you! You could trade Pokemon with your link cable. Last but not least, you could battle your friends with your Pokemon over a link cable. That's how it started. Soon the versions red and blue were released in the U.S. It was also a huge hit. Pokemon Pinabll released after Red and Blue. Along with the Red and Blue versions the Pokemon Cartoon was released. It was a huge hit. About the first 40 episodes were ran on different small TV stations. Soon after the WB grabbed the rights for the show. To this day WB still shows episodes of Pokemon on Saturday's and Sunday's. The next game was called Pokemon Pinball. It was a game in which you played pinball to catch Pokemon. It was also a hit. About a year after the first games they released Pokemon Yellow in which you had to start the game with a Pikachu. The graphics were also improved, as were battle animations. Some new factors were also introduced. Soon after the Yellow version was released in America the Gold and Silver versions were released in Japan. 100 new Pokemon were introduced in these games. Some Pokemon were nocturnal and could only sleep during the day. Steel and Evil Pokemon were introduced in Gold and Silver. During all of this a CCG was being played all around both countries. It was almost if not more popular than the games. Stores were always out of Pokemon Cards and prices are still rising at some stores. Other games were also released in Japan between the first games and Gold and Silver but my knowledge is to little to write about them. I hope you enjoyed, the history of Pokemon.
