The Tenoroc Fish Management Area is an 8,000 acre former phosphate mine located 2 miles
north of Lakeland on SR 33A (Reynolds Road) This is the Polk County hub for the Great Florida Birding Trail and brochers are available at the kiosk for other sites nearby. The fishing is excellent and the birding is good.
Because the reserve is so large, birding spots are numerous. All of the raptors of the area can be
found somewhere on this property. The surrounding fields support many rodents and hawks love hunting the
park. Sedge Wrens and sparrows are also easily found in winter. The 900 acre Bridgewater addition will allow access from the City of Lakeland in the near future. Another new addition will form a link to Saddlecreek County Park
There is a $3 entrance fee and a bird list is available at the park headquarters.
