This is the little house that needs a roof over the front porch. 8 Nov 01. I got two views – the problem is to construct a roof that comes off the long roof behind the chimney and covers the front porch that is between the front porch gable and the bedroom addition gable at the other end.
1 April 02 and the job is done. The framing was not all that much of a problem – getting some vinyl siding to match the house was. To complete the front porch we needed about three pieces of the vinyl siding, but because it is a special order item we would have had to buy a whole box for about $185. That being the case it was decided to press on with straightening up the garage (which had a serious lean and was settled down about four inches on the back corner.
Anyway – here is the new porch roof that we built. And, unfortunately I never took the time to get a “before” picture of the garage. But then I doubt that a picture could have shown how bad it was. We rebuilt two corners that were eat up with termites and jacked the back corner about 4 inches. This is what it looks like now, after the vinyl siding is on.
