All My Mama'sAll of my mama's, and all of my papa's too, are from the mountains of West Virginia. My earliest immigrant ancestor came to Virginia about 1620, this was the Meadows line. In 1630 one group got too far north landing in the Mass. Bay Colony with the Winthrop Fleet, but that was corrected when the first Knapp came to Virginia about 1795. These pages will list six generations of each of my four grandparents. I have more on some of them including the Clendenin line which goes back to Robert the Bruce. This is me in Uncle Don's new golf hat which he got for Christmas in 1998.

Jacob Plants and Nancy Cooper
Some of my ancestors were in western Virginia by the late 1700s, but some, like PLANTS and COOPER went first to Pennsylvania, and then moved from Washington Co., Penna to Mason Co., VA/WVA about 1850. This is the grave stone we erected for Jacob Plants and Nancy Jane Cooper a few years ago. They farmed this land and lived into their 80s. We have a reunion every June. |
Jacob Plants and Nancy Cooper
I have over 18,000 people in my database, most from WV. Many are distant lines and I don't have much on them. I have my own lines, my daughter's lines, and extensive information on my three step-fathers [it's a long story]. This is my daughter in 1995 at the grave of Christian PLANTS, son of Jacob and Nancy. The PLANTS, COOPERS, EDWARDS, & MEADOWS all lived out on Ten Mile Creek near Leon, in Mason Co., WV. |
