Josh and Lara were married on New Year's Eve, the wedding was glorious. The couple wanted to be married on the eve of the millennium. Pre-wedding photos were taken at the Eastern Star Mansion, which is next door to the home of Josh and Lara. His parents accompanied Josh down the aisle, and after the bridal party entered Lara was accompanied down the aisle by both of her parents. Josh and Lara gave roses to their grandmothers and lit candles for their deceased grand parents. In addition to the regular service there were two songs, Rebecca, an Alpha Chi Omega sister of the bride, read from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, and Susan, mother of the groom gave a Celtic Blessing of the marriage. Josh and Lara are of Celtic ancestry.
The recessional was "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago. The wedding party and guests gathered on the steps of the church surrounded by luminaries and holding candles to sing Joyful, Joyful accompanied by a trumpet. Then following a bagpiper, the bride and groom led a procession down 17th street four blocks to the reception. Cars honked and people along the street clapped and shouted good wishes. At the stroke of midnight all the guests wished the new couple Happy New Year.
