I grew up in New hampshire but moved to south Florida about 25 years ago. I love the ocean but unfortunately am unable to walk on sand because I have muscular dystrophy and also can't swim unless I have access to a pool with a lift. I do enjoy going to the pier though and looking at the vastness and surf.

I am blessed to have two beautiful children that I adore and that have made my life purposeful and complete. My daughter, Kelly, is an elementary school teacher, married, and has a newborn baby named Alexander. Kelly is a beautiful, sensitive, caring, young woman that is loved by all who know her.

My son, Daniel, attends Florida Atlantic University and is studying computer science. Daniel is handsome, bright, loyal, caring, and has a wonderful spirit of adventure.

I also have a dog named Prince. He is a 10 year old dalmation that weighs 70 pounds and thinks he is a lap dog. He is a wonderful companion and only a true dog lover could understand how much I love him.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.

It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.

It will make or break a company... a place of worship... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past... we cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.

This is a dedication to my cousin, Billy Solomon, who died of AIDS in May 1997 at the age of 39. He fought this horrible disease bravely and with concern for his family and friends for many years. I believe his spirit lives on through those of us that knew and loved him and that he is one of God's special angels. I miss him and think of him all the time. I am glad for my belief that our souls will meet again in heaven. I have wonderful memories of us growing up and it makes me smile when I think of him. I am very proud of my daughter, Kelly, who while in high school was a peer educator teaching other students about AIDS/HIV prevention and who is now training others to be peer educators. Remember, sex is not worth dying over. Please protect yourself
