"Nick!" Katie yelled throwing her arms around his body.

Snowflakes that were piled on his winter jacket poured down to the ground, as new ones swirled around them.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to give you your present." Nick replied.

"But, I thought you wanted to be home for Christmas."

"It doesn't feel like home without you." He whispered, wiping a snowflake from her cheek.

Katie's pale cheeks flushed red with happiness and kissed him sweetly. "I'm so glad you came." Tears filled her eyes. "I've missed you."

"Shh. Don't cry. They'll turn into icicles." Nick said softly.

Katie sniffled. "I can't help it."

"Can I come in?"

"Oh! Yeah!" Katie stepped out of the way to let him in, closed the door behind him, and helped him off with his jacket. "Come on, sit by the fire and warm yourself up."

Katie lead him into the living room, and the two sat down in the pile of blankets.

"Katie," Nick began. "I was miserable without you, and it made me realize how much I love you."

"Aww! I love you, too!"

"I went shopping for your gift, I looked everywhere for something worthy of you, but I couldn't find anything. Everything seemed worthless."

"Baby, that's fine. You being here is enough."

"No. No, it's not. I looked everywhere. Then I stopped and started thinking. I looked inside myself and realized that there are some things that money can't buy. Like loved." Nick propped himself up on one knew. "I've been waiting all night to give you your gift, a gift I hope will last beyond forever. I want you to know that I love you, Katie, and I always will. Tonight I'm gonna give you everything I have, and everything I will ever have. Katherine Leigh McGraw, will you marry me?"

Katie's eyes widened as Nick pulled an extravagant diamond rink in a velvet lined box out of his pocket.

"Oh my God!" she cried, throwing her arms around him. "Of course I will!"

Their lips met in the most passionate kiss either one had ever experienced.

Nick gently took Katie's hand, and slowly slid the ring on her slender finger, then cupped her face in his hands, and watched the fire dance on her face.

Bong! Bong! Bong! The grandfather clock in the corner rang twelve times, announcing that it was midnight, and the day was now December 25.

"Merry Christmas, Katie."

The End!

Your eyes are shinning like diamonds tonight

And we're all alone, There's no one home

You're finally in my arms again.

Cause I love you girl, And I always will

And now I know the moment is right

The moment is right.

It's something to last for as long as you live

Tonight I'm gonna give you
