I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change
Chapter One

Recap:  “Well, I have a new girlfriend,” said A.J. a little to excitedly. “What do you guys think?” Nick and Mac just looked at each other. They both knew that A.J. had been in some bad relationships in the past. They both cared for him very much. Mac cared for him more than anyone. They had been best friends since they were little. They were both born in the same hospital, and their mothers had been best friends for years before that. “So what do you guys think? Say something Mac.”
“That’s great J,” she said pasting a fake smile one her face. “I’m happy for you.”

“You don’t sound to thrilled Mac. Why?” asked Nick with a devilish gleam in his eyes. Nick knew that Mac liked—loved A.J. He teased it about her relentlessly. That’s one of the many reasons they didn’t get along. The others run much deeper than that.
“What are you talking about Nick? Of course I’m happy for A.J. If he’s happy, then I’m happy.” Mackenzie said quietly, not looking A.J. in the face. She loved him, but she couldn’t tell him. He was perfect, that’s more than she ever thought she would be. Just as A.J. was about to say something, the doorbell rang. “Thank God,” Mackenzie thought to herself. She quickly turned away from the conversation, and went to the door.
“Hey Watts, how are you?” Brian asked giving his oh so adorable smile.
“Better now that you’re here. Nick was about to drive me crazy. Hey Harmonee. ‘Sup?”
“Nothing much. Is Nick bothering you again?” Harmonee said as she walked past me with Brian right behind her.
“When isn’t he. Are all of you staying for dinner, and if so where’s everyone else?” Mackenzie cooked dinner every Friday evening for al her friends. It became a ritual with them. They would have dinner, and then they would co clubbing, or rent a movie.
“They’ll be here Mac, don’t worry,” Nee said giving a reassuring smile.  As she said that the doorbell rang. “Am I good or what?” Nee said with an “I’m-all-that-look” on her face. Mac went to answer the door. When she opened it, she saw an unfamiliar face on the other side.
“Hi, can I help you?” Mac said with a questioning look.
“Yes, I’m looking for A.J. He said he would be here,” The mystery woman said.
 “Well, who are you…”
“Mir. Hey babe,” A.J. said wrapping his arms around Miranda and kissing her. “Come on in. I want you to meet some people. I hope you don’t mind Mac.”
“Of course not J. There’s always room for one more,” Mac said, her smile fading.
“Come on Mir. Meet some of my friends.” Mackenzie shut the door behind them, and walked into the living room. “Miranda, I want you to me Nick Carter, Harmonee Jones, and Brian Littrell. Guys this is Miranda Campbell. She’s a DJ at XL. And of course, this is Mackenzie Wattley. My greatest and best friend.”
“Of course,” Miranda said, “So, you’re the infamous Mac. A.J. talks about you all the time. I think I know enough about you to write a book. It’s always Mackenzie this, Mackenzie that. Mackenzie, Mackenzie, Mackenzie.” Mir said with an almost disgusted look on her face.
“Wow, I don’t know what to say, except, I hope what A.J. told you was good.” Mac said forcing a smile. Mac could already tell she wasn’t gonna like Miranda. Mac just knew she wasn’t right for him, but she couldn’t tell A.J. that, he was perfect.
