I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!
Chapter Nine

Recap: “Look at me. I’m a mess.” Mac said as she wiped her tear stained face.
“I think you look great,” Nick said flashing a killer smile.
“Thank you. Thanks for loving me, and thanks for being a friend.” Mac said as she and Nick stood there looking in each other’s eyes. Nick moved closer to Mac and embraced her again.
 “What’s this for?” Mac questioned.
“It felt so good to hold you, I just don’t wanna let you go.” Nick said knowing eventually that he would have to. Just as Nick and Mac broke away from their embrace, A.J. walked through the door.

A.J. just stood in the doorway looking between his two friends. A.J. felt lost. He didn’t know if he could trust either one of them.
“What’s up guys?” A.J. said as he looked at Mac who had her one arm around Nick.
“Not much. Mac and I made up. We don’t completely hate each other anymore.” Nick said with a school boy grin.
“Yeah, Just a little,” Mac said smiling back at Nick.
A.J. just stood there not knowing what to say. When A.J. went out he found himself at Mac and his favorite place: the beach. Then he realized that Nick and Mac loved to go to the beach…together.
“What’s wrong J?” Mac said leaving Nick’s side. “A.J.? What’s up?” Mac said waving her hand in front of his face.
“So you two made up?” A.J. said lacking the exact words to say.
“Yeah man, but I’m beat. Are you ready to go?” Nick said not really anxious to go.
“Um, I think we’ll stay here tonight Nick. I’m kinda tired of driving. I’ve been doing it all afternoon. I mean if it’s alright with Mac.” A.J. said hoping that she would say yes. He thought that maybe this would be the perfect plan to see if he was really in love with Mac.
“Sure. You know you’re welcome here anytime. Pick a room. There are plenty.” Mac said smiling at her best friend. She walked over to him and gave him a hug.
A.J. smiled and said, “What’s this for?”
Mac looked up at him and said, “For being my best friend.” With that she pulled away, and looked back at Nick, but he had already gone upstairs.
Looking back at A.J., Mac said, “I’m sorry A.J. I acted childish, and stupid. I am genuinely sorry about you and Miranda.”
“It’s o.k, Mac. I shouldn’t have pushed you to tell me. I’m sorry too. I’m glad to see you and Nick are getting along.” A.J. said as he looked at his best friend.
“Yeah. I’m glad too. What do you say we go to bed? It’s been a long day.” Mac said as she turned from A.J., but before she could go he grabbed her arm. “What?” Mac said turning back around.
“Where am I gonna sleep?” A.J. said slyly.
“Anywhere. I don’t care. You know that.”
“Mac can I ask a question without it seeming…disgusting?
“Shoot.”
“Remember how when we were younger we used to sleep in the same bed?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you think we could do that again…tonight?” Mac looked at A.J. astonished. They hadn’t slept in the same bad since they were 16. Now, all of a sudden, he wanted to sleep in the same bed.
“I guess so J…”
“I mean if you don’t want to…”
“I don’t care. It’s up to you.”
“Good. Let’s go get ready for bed.” With that said, A.J. pulled Mac up the stairs to go get ready for bed.
