Stacy Monroe sat in the kitchen of her mother’s restaurant. Her mother had died three years prior and left her with the restaurant. She didn’t know what to do. The rent was due, and they couldn’t meet it. She only had three loyal customers, and that wasn’t enough to keep L’Original open.
“Hey Stace,” Mr. Fletcher said as Stacy walked into the market
to buy food for the restaurant.
“Hello Mr. Fletcher. How are you today?” Stacy said looking at
the mushrooms.
“Good. What would you like today my dear.”
“How about a flat of the portobella mushrooms.”
“As you wish.” Mr. Fletcher said bending down to get a flat.
“That’ll be $25.” Mr. Fletcher said.
“Thanks. See ya.” Stacy said waving to Mr. Fletcher.
“Bye, bye Stacy.”
Nick was walking around downtown Orlando hoping not to be spotted
by any screaming fans, but having no such luck. He had been seen twice
already, and just wanted to get out of there. He found himself walking
into an open-air market full of chefs, and other people.
“Maybe this’ll be someplace where no one knows me.”
Stacy was still walking around buying raspberries and tomatoes
when a strange little man came up to her.
“Why hello Stacy, how are you today?”
“Fine. I don’t remember seeing you here. Are you new?”
“You could say that. I’m trying to sell these crabs. Would you
like to buy them?” He said showing her a basket full blue crabs.
“I wouldn’t know what to do with them.” Stace said getting ready
to walk away.
“You know, I know your mother. She loves crab. She would want
you to buy these.”
“My mother is dead.” Stacy said looking down at the ground.
“That doesn’t mean you have to forget about her. When one door
closes, another one opens. Just wait. So what about the crabs? They’re
$59.”
Stacy looked at the strange little man and replied, “Sure.” Stacy
took out her money and paid the man.
“Hey look,” the little man said, “one’s getting away.”
“Damn.” Stacy said as she got down on the ground in her capri
pants and platforms. She crawled under table after table after the crab.
“I’ve got you.” Stacy said as she grabbed what she thought was the crab,
but instead she had latched onto something else.
“Hello.” A tall blond haired, blue eyes.
“Hello. I’m sorry I’m just trying to stop something from crawling
up your pants.” Said a flustered Stacy. Nick just laughed and admired her.
He thought she was very beautiful. She had dark brown hair, green eyes,
and a dark complexion. Her hair was flying everywhere, but she still looked
gorgeous. Suddenly, Nick let out a yelp. The crab, it seems, had pinched
Nick on his ankle.
“I’m sorry about that.” She said standing up to look Nick in
the eye. “Wow, he’s really gorgeous,” she thought.
“I’ve gotta go find my crustacean. Maybe I’ll see you around.”
“Maybe.” He said smiling down at her.
Then the strange little man came back with the bucket of crabs,
and the missing one.
“Can’t let that one get away. He’s a special one.”
Stacy said looked down at the bucket, and looked back up to
thank the strange little man, but he was gone.
