"Kevin again?" A voice rang out from beside her. Savannah turned on her bed to see Justin now lieing down comfortably, playing with some two stuffed animals that he had brought her back from England. A pig and an elephant- one to represent each of them- who knows why they were pigs and elephants, but Justin was like that. Savannah sighed and looked into Justin's eyes. She didnt see anything like that, just a good friendship, and a different kind of love.
"Yeah..." She admitted, taking the Elephant from his hands. He dropped the stuffed pig onto her bed and grabbed her arm, locking his blue eyes with hers.
"He's gone Savannah." He said softly. It was a hard thing to make her realize, but he knew he would have to do it eventually, he had no other choice. Savannah broke the stare and glanced down to the toy she held in her hands, talking quietly...
"I... I know Justy. I cant seem to forget him though. I know that wasnt the reason he left, he must have had something else he was hiding, and THATS what bothers me so much. He wouldnt leave me because he loved me too much he-"
"He did love you that much." Justin interrupted, lifting her face with his hands under her chin. "Dont you doubt that." Savannah sighed.
"I dont, i dont doubt that, I know he did, and I loved him, but there was some other reason he left me here!!" She yelled. Quickly realizing how loud she seemed, she stopped and quieted herself for a second.
"We'll get your mind off of it for a while" Justin decided finally, grabbing her arm and pulling her off the bed. Savannah looked around, confused.
"Well..what? Where are you gonna take me? It's freezing outside!" She protested, placing the elephant on the bed as she walked out the room with him. Justin looked back at her, his head almost as high as the door frame of her bedroom.
"Eh, we'll see..." He said, and they started their walk down the stairs, holding onto her right hand.
*The sun was shining down on all of them. They felt as though they were alone today, but the realization that there were hundreds of others there, didnt seem to affect them. The waves were splashing on the shore as the whole party of people ran through them, laughing and giggling. Girls were getting thrown in the water, and before Savannah knew it, she had a man's arms wrap around her waist from behind.
"GOTcha!" A low voice laughed from behind her. She turned back to see a dark haired man with piercing green eyes behind her. Before she could say a word, her body was thrown into that water and the salt taste filled her mouth. Sitting down in the shallow area of the ocean waves, she put her most evil look on her face. Although down inside she was thinking about how much she just wanted to talk to this guy and get to know him more than she had two seconds ago. She looked up to see him towering over her, his long bathing suit shorts sticking to his muscular legs. She crossed her arms in front of her.
"That wasnt fair!" She pouted. Of course it was just a friendly game the whole party had going, but she needed a reason to put on conversation. He held an outstretched arm towards her, offering a hand in helping her up.
"You were asking for it!!" He complained playfully. She reached up for his hand and felt his strong force pull her out of the waves underneath her as he stood on the drier sand. He looked into her eyes with the most amazing smile she had seen in a long time. "Kevin" He stated, his eyes never breaking from hers. She smiled down at their hands that were still attached.
"Savannah" She replied....*
The cold winter air now shot back at her like a bullet when she stepped outside with her winter jacket thrown snuggly over her sweater.
"Where are we GOING Justin...?" she asked, following his path through the light layer of snow that covered the ground. He shifted his jacket and turned on the right towards where his car was parked on the ground. He had just GOTTEN his license, Savannah wasnt too sure if she wanted to drive with him!
"Still not sure yet...I guess" he said quietly, and opened her door from the right side, then walked over to his.
She jumped into the passenger side and, as quickly as she could, turned the radio off from the rock station to the 'mix' station before Justin noticed. Then, brushing some snow off his boots, he sat down on his side, sliding the key into the ignition and shutting his door. The car started fine, as cold as it was outside. The snowflakes were falling lightly on the windshield, and, the windshield wipers finally noticing it, automatically started to wipe them off. The car started slowly and eventually began to roll smoothly on the streets near Savannah's house, Justin heading off into the "down town"... which there, wasnt really a 'down town'- just their city's pathetic attempt to be noticed.
Savannah occassionally glanced over to Justin, his blue eyes focusing on the road ahead of him. They didnt even say a word.. I guess there wasnt much else to say, but it could have helped. The radio played silently and Savannah, noticing this, reached her hand up to the volume to hear the words. "When i touch you, can you feel that? when i need you, can you give it? when i look in your eyes, can you see me, when i--" She quickly changed stations from the song that repeated in her head. Because images of Kevin were all she could see singing it... Quietly... he used to rap his arms around her tightly when it was cold out, and sing to her, just like that night on the toboggan... as they sat there in the winter breeze and the snow flakes hit their noses, he whispered slightly "everytime i look at you, i feel a love i cant explain.." the words of one backstreet boys song, or another. Savannah shook her head out of another day-dreaming sequence of Kevin and focused on the world she was now in. A cold winter's day, near christmas, in the car with her best friend... Hmm, her best friend... She stared at Justin for a moment... girls on the streets that they were passing would stop and look at the guy in the car, wave or smile at him, constantly. Savannah knew why.. his resemblance to someone... Justin quickly turned his head to the right and caught Savannah's eyes staring through him, she met up with his blue eyes and he flashed his shy smile.
"What is it?" He asked playfully. Savannah just laughed, then looked back down to the radio in the car.
"Ha, nothin" She repeated. He smirked at her, trying his best to look devilish, then concentrated again on the road ahead of them and the people outside.
*Every person Savannah saw now reminded her of something from before... why couldnt she get him out of her head?! It was because he had to be coming back... she knew it.. he couldnt leave her for no reason like that.
The sun was too bright for Savannah to make out exactly who was standing in front of her without looking up on this hot summer day. Everyone had gathered on the beach again, and as everyone stayed to play in the ocean, she sat this one out for a couple minutes. Spreading sun tan lotion on her arms, she realized a dark shadow towering over her. She smiled and glanced up, expecting to see Kevin's deep green eyes smiling down at her. As she squinted into the sun and lifted her head though, a different image came to her mind... "Hey Savannah, you know me, right?" The boy asked shyly, smiling devilishly as the sun shone into his blue eyes.
"Yeah" Savannah laughed. "Nick!" Nick smiled and crouched down in front of her, his blond hair falling forwards into his eyes, and the sun still beaming down onto his back.
"You're Kevin's girl?" He asked, staring into her eyes and not letting go of them. Savannah stalled for a minute.. woh... kevin's girl? Was she really?? She smiled from ear to ear...
"I guess so" she blushed, then looked back down. Nick flashed her a huge smile and grabbed her hand.
"Come on over here!" He said quickly, and dragged her up off the sand.*
Justin took a double take of the girl next to him in the passenger seat.
"Why do you keep staring at me? You off in your dream world again?!" He laughed. He wasnt ready to start any kind of fight with her though. Savannah turned her head down for the third time in a row, trying to remove the images in her head.
"You just remind me of someone" She said, as he took one hand off the steering wheel to take his blond hair out from the way of those blue eyes. He smiled as his eyes focused back on the snowy road ahead of him.
"The sexiest man alive, that's who." His remark made Savannah laugh..for almost the first time today. She shifted in her seat and pulled her jacket closed a little more, as she felt a chill in the air from outside. Still smiling she answered.
"Yeah that's right Justie. Sexiest man alive....ha. ha." She sarcastically remarked.
"You know it!" he smirked. "So where'ya wanna go? We'll go to Grabba Jabba, catch up on some stuff, then go have some FUN!" He answered for her. 'Grabba Jabba' was their town's attempt at a coffee shop type place, the small cafe was set with blue and beige walls, weird paintings, some really high tables and chairs, and a big couch set surrounding a fire place near the front. Everyone loved the place, but on a cold day like this, there were only 2 other people there when they walked in.
Savannah had found her comfortable place, in the middle of the big couch that faced the fireplace in the cafe, as Justin was up ordering drinks for both of them. She let her gaze blur into the view of the fire in front of her again and took off her coat, placing it just hanging over the back of the couch.
Justin finally came to sit beside her, his blue sweater covering half his hands, as he handed her a drink.
"Ooooh egg nog!" He said, as she took the glass in her hands, expecting it to be a hot one, but instead it sent cold chills through her body. She smiled at him.
"They got egg nog already?!" She said somewhat excitedly. Justin was sipping his glass and got a rim of egg nog around his mouth, while whiping it off he gave her an odd look.
"Whadda ya mean already?! It's close to Christmas ya know.. if you havent been in this world lately. Hi, it's close to Christmas." She laughed at him again, the typical Justin way to talk was almost sarcastically or making fun of people constantly, but then he could settle down into a completely serious mode. "So what is it you're thinking..." he asked, turning to his left and placing one arm over the back of the couch, ready to take in fully what Savannah would rant on about....
"Hm, I dont know.. I... it's Christmas and I want him here and..." she looked down at her glass of yellowy milk. Looked gross, but tasted real good. "And egg nog..."
"Egg nog?" She let out a small sigh.
"You dont remember? It was last Christmas and..."
