[.snowfalls.]

Savannah didnt take her eyes off the man at the door. His beige winter jacket had been thrown over him obviously too quickly to straighten it, the snow had covered the top of his dark brown hair and he was unravelling a scarf he had thrown around his neck. Never taking his eyes away from hers, not even for a second, he stood speechlessly. One small snowflake melted on his nose, and Savannah's mind ran through so many possible memories. The two stood for almost a minute, speechless, heart beats slowing back down....
Ever so slightly he moved himself towards the couch, towards Savannah and Justin, and finally stood alone, two feet behind it. Savannah looked up, and managing to get her thoughts back, placed her egg nog quickly on the table in front of her, and glanced back to meet his green eyes again. It was about time somebody said something....
"Kevin..." She whispered, almost to herself, in reassurance to her mind that it WAS, really..him. She went to search herself inside, tried to gather up all the hate she should have for him, tried to force it upon her thoughts. But she couldnt. Looking into those innocent green eyes of his, there had to be some reason why he had left her for so long. Although..she realized.. it had only been 3 months. He looked as though he had so much to say, and before she could run through all the things in her head that she could say to him, he interrupted.
"Before you ask me why I left...." he started. Savannah was about to cut him off, but stopped any built up anger inside, just by looking at him struggle for the words from his heart. "Read this...will you?" He handed her a crinkled up white piece of paper that he grabbed out of his coat pocket. In handing the paper to her, their fingers slightly touched again, and Savannah sighed quietly at the sensation. She was puzzled, but chose to turn around and read it. She took it slowly in her hand, and turned around facing the fireplace again, only to realize that Justin had dissapeared.
"Where'd...justin go..?" She asked, somewhat to herself again. She didnt expect an answer, but had a tendancy to think aloud. She shrugged it off and unfolded the paper in her hands. She tried to ignore the fact that Kevin was standing there behind her, the thought that he could possibly be back in her life got her too excited, she didnt even want to think of what she might be about to read, or what might happen to let him leave again. Behind her, Kevin observed everything new about her... Her hair had grown just a little longer- down to her shoulders. He loved the beige sweater she had on. He remembered running his hands through that hair, and feeling the warmth of her body on a day like this, next to that same fire. He watched her unfold the letter he had written to her.
"You know i always say i'm better with words when I write them...." he said softly. She nodded, and he continued to roam over all the thoughts he had in the back of his head. He wanted to feel her again. Without even noticing it, he edged his hand slowly towards the top of her head...but once he got almost close enough to feel it, he stopped, realizing it wasnt right at this time. Wasnt right to touch the girl he loved with all his heart.
It was only a couple minutes later, but Savannah was still reading the opening words to the letter. She had caught herself just in the first few letters. "To my little Sailor," it read. She closed her eyes and kept on.

"I know i said i had to leave you, to see if i could live my life without you, Sailor. I tried. Oh how I've tried. I was right all along though, out on this tour and away from you, being cold on those cold winter nights, having nobody to keep me warm, nobody to snuggle with by the fire, nobody to catch snowflakes on their tongues with me, no one to take out to the golf course, nobody to wrap in my new sweater, nobody to kiss under the mistletoe...nobody to love... i can only love you. There are so many things I wish i could take back... No wait, just one. I wish i could take back any thoughts in your head that could possibly make you think we need to be apart any longer. I wish I could turn back time, and could have been able to realize what I realized in this time alone without you-- How much i NEED you. I want you. I love you. For every second together, and every second apart, I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart. I'll be the one always there beside you, always there behind you, always there with you. I need you again Sailor. Forgive me. I love you more than anything on this earth. This heart of mine is yours, always.
love always, forever and ever,
'Your captain' , Kevin"

Savannah's eyes teared up and her voice was choked, he had even remember her nickname for him. Forgetting any moral thought she had in her body to tell herself to think this over first, think about what he put her through for three months, she turned herself around to look Kevin in the eyes again, and hold him in her arms.
...Gone. There was nobody behind the couch. Noone beside her, noone even in the coffee shop anymore... How could THAT have happened?! Kevin would never leave her after just coming all that way to find her? There was no way, after all he said, that he could be leaving again...? It made no sense to her.
"Kevin...?" she echoed through the coffee shop. Lifting her jacket up and getting ready to leave, she rushed through the door.
The snow outside was coming down faster now, it made it hard to see out there. She looked across the parking lot, near all the other stores...no one. "KEVIN?!" She cried out, in need to find reassurance again that he wouldnt leave her..not after this. The snow hit her eyes and she squinted as she ran out to the middle of the parking lot and stood alone as the world looked so big. She felt alone this time, but still knew there was someone here for her, somewhere. He was going to be beside her, behind her, and with her, always, right? She sank down to the snowy ground, her jeans feeling the coldness soak through. "So where is he now..." She whispered.
