Available as a send-away through the official U2 fanclub magazine PROPAGANDA in 1996, MELON: REMIXES FOR PROPAGANDA compiled the most danceable mixes from U2's ZOOTV era. The album was available only to PROPAGANDA subscribers and was not available through stores, although many copies trickled into the secondary market. Curiously enough, MELON spawned a large brood of almost identical bootlegged lookalikes, collecting other rare U2 mixes from the same time period that were previously available only on rare CD single, compilation albums, or club vinyls-- these are the other fruit CDs whose entries you saw on the way to MELON.
The fruits, legitimate as the may or may not be, are excellent remix archives of U2's 1991-1995 material. Melon is the only one whose existence is without a doubt official and sanctioned by U2. The others are dubious propositions at best.
