"I wonder what he's doing right now," I wondered aloud.
"If you dont shut up, I am going to slap you!" Ashley snapped rolling her eyes.
"Well, I miss him," I growled.
"You're going to see him tomorrow and you two can do G-D knows what," she told me.
Slowly, but surely, my wedding day was coming. Tomorrow, but it seemed like a lifetime. This has to be the longest day of my life...
"Honey, you might want to try on your dress to make sure it still fits," my mother said walking into the kitchen where me and my sister were sitting.
"Mom, Ive tried on that dress everyday for the past week," I told her.
"I know, I just love seeing you in it," she told me smiling.
"Thank you," I smiled back. Ashley and my mother were now on speaking terms, but Ashley sometimes threw her dirty looks or glared at her when she was getting on her nerves. My mother and I were getting along just fine though. I completely forgave her and my father and it's in the past. I dont even want to think about it anymore.
"Let me see your nails," my sister said taking my hand and examining my newly manicured nails.
"Who did your acrylics?" she asked looking up at me.
"Actually Tammy did. She used to do that stuff when she was younger," I replied.
"They look good," she told me.
"Thanks."
"Do you girls want anything to drink?" my mother asked walking over to the fridge.
"Lemonade," we both replied.
"Are you nervous?" Ashley grinned at me.
"Yes!" I exclaimed.
"I would be too, but you two are so perfect for each other. And he loves Hayley to death," she told me.
"I know, he's so amazing and I dont know what I did to deserve someone so perfect, but Im not going to spend the rest of my life wondering, only thanking God," I told her.
"When does he plan on adopting Hayley?" Ashley asked.
"Actually the paperwork goes in the day after the wedding and hopefully everything will be settled quickly," I answered.
"He'll make a good father," my mother said setting our lemonade down and going back to the counter for hers.
"I agree," I smiled.
"Speaking of the little devil, where did she disappear to?" Ashley asked.
"She went to get her crayons," I replied.
"Mommy! Look!" Hayley squealed running from the front hall, where her bag was.
"What?" I asked, sounding excited.
She held up her coloring book and box of crayons.
"Cool! Come on, you can sit up here and color, ok?" I asked.
"Ok," she nodded. She climbed up into a seat across from Ashley and next to me and began to color.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Four thirty," my mother answered.
"Im gonna call him," I said getting up.
"You cant win with her," Ashley mumbled, but was smiling. I picked up my mother's cordless and dialed the familiar number.
"Hello?" a sweet, southern accent picked up.
"Hey baby," I said smiling.
"MacKenzie!" he exclaimed.
"Hi," I giggled.
"You know what I was wondering?" he asked.
"What?"
"If I cant go a day without seeing you and going crazy, how am I going to live on tour?" he asked, I could tell he was smiling.
"I miss you," I replied.
"I miss you too," he said.
"Ashley is getting so annoyed with me," I giggled.
"Why?"
"Because I keep talking about you."
"Aww... I feel special," he joked.
"We shouldve had a morning wedding," I told him.
"Why's that?" he asked.
"So I could see you sooner," I told him.
"You're making me sick," Ashley groaned.
"Daddy?" Hayley asked looking up at me. I stopped and looked down at her. Ashley stopped making a face at me and my mother stopped mid-sip of her lemonade.
"Brian, Hayley wants to talk to you," I whispered and handed the phone to Hayley who took it and brought it to her ear.
"Hi Daddy," she said into the phone. I knew Brian was smiling or in shock. Or both.
"Brian daddy?" Hayley asked looking up at me.
I looked at Ashley who nodded.
"Yeah, Brian's Daddy honey," I told her slowly and softly.
Hayley began jibbering about something completely incoherent. Finally, she handed the phone back to me, making sure to tell 'Daddy' she loved him. I felt like I was going to cry.
"Brian?" I squeaked.
"She called me Daddy," he murmured.
"Are you happy or..."
"Of course Im happy!" I exclaimed and then chuckled.
"I cant wait to marry you," he told me.
"And I cant wait to marry you," I replied.
"Honey, someone's at the door. I'll call you back, ok?" he asked.
"Sure," I said.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
I hung up the phone and set it in the cradle.
I looked at my sister and mom and grinned.
"I cant wait to marry him," I declared.
*The Next Morning*
"Mommy!" Hayley said, waking me up.
"Hmm?" I asked my eyes fluttering open.
"Morning," she told me.
"Good morning sweetheart," I told her sitting up.
"You ready for today?" I asked, looking down at her.
She nodded, but Im almost positive she didnt have a clue as to what I was talking about.
"Rise and shine!" Ashley said walking into the room, holding a video camera in her hand.
"Ashley! What are you doing!" I shreiked.
"What?" she asked smiling.
"Why are you recording me?" I asked pulling the covers over me.
"Because, I want Brian to see everything you do today, before the wedding," she told me.
"Why?" I asked.
"Memories!" she exclaimed.
"Mommy!" Hayley giggled taking the covers from over my head. Ashley had the camera right in my face.
"Augghh! Get out of my face!" I screeched and pushed the camera away.
"Now, now, let's not get violent, get up, you have a hair appointment in, oh about thirty minutes," she told me.
"What!" I exclaimed jumping out of bed and rushing off to the bathroom to get a quick shower.
Hayley took a shower with me, to cut time short, and when I got out, I headed straight for the hair salon, Ashley up my butt the whole time with that damn camera.
"Do you really have to record me while Im getting my hair done?" I asked rolling my eyes at Ashley.
"Yes," she turned the camera to face her, "You see Brian, what us women do for you men?"
I smiled at her.
Hayley was at home with my mother, who agreed to watch her today while I got last minute things done. When I was done getting my hair done, it looked gorgeous.
"Wow, you look great," Ashley commented, looking at the screen on the camera. I rolled my eyes, but blushed.
"Thanks."
"Now, let's see, it's 1:00. Jeez! We've been here for an hour and a half?" she asked.
"Yeah," I said sheeplishly.
She smiled.
"Great, now we go home and I get ready," she told me. We drove home and the first thing Hayley did when I walked in the door was run up and give me a hug.
"I miss you," she told me.
"I missed you too," I said kneeling down to her and pulling her closer to me.
"Mommy loves you," I told her.
"Me," she giggled.
"You love me?"
She nodded and touched my hair lightly.
"Pretty," she told me.
"Thank you, do you want Mommy to do your hair?" I asked.
She nodded and ran off to find her brush. I smiled and walked into the kitchen where my mother was busy preparing something.
"Whatcha baking?" I asked.
"Get out of here!" she scolded.
"Ok! Ok," I smiled and walked to find Hayley. She ran up to me and handed me her brush. I began to comb her thick brown hair and clipped it securely in a clip with a pink bow to match her dress.
"Mommy," she said pointing to her dress.
"You wanna put on your dress?" I asked. She nodded.
I looked at the clock and saw that it was 1:00.
"Can you wait a little bit?" I asked her. She nodded.
"Ok, good," I replied.
"Honey Brian called and said that I was to make sure you were at the church by 3:45, no later," my mother said walking into the room.
"Was he just on the phone?" I asked jumping up.
"No!" she lied.
"Mom!" I whined.
"You can wait to talk to him," she scolded. I frowned and looked down at Hayley.
"Do you wanna help Mommy do her makeup?" I asked. She nodded and I took her hand and led her to the room I was staying in, my old room. I sat down at my mirror and Hayley sat in the chair next to me. I slowly began to apply my makeup. I took my time and made my face glow. When I was done, Hayley was staring at me in awe.
"What?" I asked smiling down at her.
"Pretty," she told me.
"Thank you," I said kissing her.
"Hey, you look good," my sister said walking into the room.
"Thanks," I smiled.
"You want me to do your makeup?"I asked.
My sister rarely wore makeup and when she did, I was always the one to do it for her.
"Ok," she agreed.
She sat down and I went to work. Before we both knew it, it was 2:00.
"You're done," I told her.
"About damn time," she groaned and turned and looked in the mirror.
"Wow, you did a good job," she told me.
"Thanks, can I do your hair?" I asked grinning.
"I guess," she rolled her eyes.
*3:15*
"Oh my G-d, theres a white limo outside," my mother called.
"What?" I asked walking out. I had just put on a gown and once again, Ashley was following me with the camera.
"He sent you a limo," my mother sighed. She looked nice in her dress that she had bought for the wedding.
"Aww," I sighed, tears forming in my eyes.
"You look absolutly beautiful," my mother said turning to me.
"Thank you," I blushed.
"I wish your father were here to see you and walk you down he aisle," she told me.
"Me too," I said softly.
"We got to go kiddies!" Ashley exclaimed. Another limo had pulled up, that one for the others. I got in the first limo, bouquet in hand. My mother was holding the ring I bought Brian for me.
"Nervous?" the driver asked me.
"You wouldnt believe it!" I laughed nervously.
"I understand," he chuckled.
We pulled up to the church right at 3:45 and the driver got out and opened the door for me. I took a deep breath and stepped outside. In forty five minutes, I would be walking down the aisle. My throat was dry and my hands were shaking.
"Over here honey," my mother called to me. She led me to a room in the church were I would patiently wait to walk down the aisle. Brian's dad had agreed to walk me down the aisle since my own father wasnt able to (obviously). I thought it was very sweet of him to offer to do something like that, knowing I didnt want to walk down the aisle by myself.
"You look wonderful," Herald, Brian's father said walking into the room.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"Brian is very lucky to have such a beautiful bride," he told me.
"And my daughter is lucky to have such a wonderful groom," my mother spoke up.
"Thank you," Herald nodded to her. I smiled, I was so nervous I couldnt even think straight.
All my bridesmaids were standing around in their beautiful gowns.
"Thank you so much," I told Angel and BJ.
"No problem, we couldnt be more happy for you," BJ told me.
I smiled, "Thanks."
