“You dont have to ask,” I whispered smiling. He leaned in, and our lips touched. We opened our mouths at the same time and let our tongues dance with each other.
I cant believe I am kissing him. After so much temptation before and attraction, I am finally kissing him.
“Micki, when are you coming to bed?” AJ asked walking into the room. Howie and I jumped apart and looked at AJ, who had a shocked expression plastered on his face.
“Fuck you Micki,” AJ said glaring at me. He turned and walked away. Shouldn’t he be sleeping or something?
“Im sorry,” Howie whispered.
“Dont be. I wanted to kiss you,” I said, forgetting about AJ. I know it was wrong, but I wasnt concentrating on what was right and what was wrong right now. I just wanted to kiss Howie.
“I wanted to kiss you too, Micki. But I dont want anyone to be hurt. Im sorry I kissed you,” Howie said, turned and walked away.
“Howie,” I said, confused.
“Sorry Micki,” he said and finished walking. I cannot believe he just did that.
I walked to where I knew AJ was going to be laying down.
“AJ?” I asked opening the curtain.
“Get the hell away from me Micki,” he said bitterly. Which, he had every right to be bitter.
“AJ, please, let me explain,” I said. Damn, that’s the worst thing to say to someone, ‘let me explain’. It only gets you into a deeper hole.
“Explain what Micki? You were kissing one of my best friends out there?” he asked, looking at me in disbelief.
“I know AJ. And Im sorry. I know I am a hypocrit. I really did want our relationship to work out, but Ive been so attracted to Howie and I just couldnt help it then,” I said. I knew the truth might hurt him, but it’s better than lying.
“How long have you had feelings for Howie?” AJ asked.
“Remember the first day you asked me out?” I asked sitting down next to him.
“Yeah,” AJ answered.
“Well, since before then,” I admitted.
“So, why did you agree to go out with me if you had ‘feelings’ for Howie?” he asked. That made sense.
“Because I knew Howie was with Heather and I didnt want to break anything up,” I answered.
“Uh, hello Micki. Have you been present lately? Howie is STILL going out with Heather. You and I are supposed to be dating too. You’re breaking more than enough things up now,” AJ said.
“Excuse me? I think our relationship went bad the second you said, ‘kinda’,” I shot back, irritated.
“Dont start Micki,” AJ rolled his eyes.
“You know AJ, why dont you quit acting like this is all my fault then,” I said.
“Can you guys shut up?” Nick asked from the bunk above us.
“For real man,” Brian said from across Nick.
“Sorry,” I mumbled.
“We’ll talk later,” AJ growled. I shut the curtain and walked back to the couch, where I crawled into a little ball and fell asleep, too angry to think about what I was going to say to AJ in the morning. This wasnt ALL my fault.
*The Next Afternoon*
“Hey Micki,” Howie said sitting down next to me on the stage. We were in Orlando and I was looking out onto an empty crowd. In three hours, this place will be packed.
“Hey Howie,” I said suddenly feeling nervous.
“AJ is really pissed at me right now,” Howie told me.
“You and me both,” I sighed, relaxing, at least he was talking to me.
“Are you nervous about tonight?” Howie asked.
“Yeah a little bit and I cant wait for the evil glares I will be receiving from AJ,” I said.
“Yeah, same here,” Howie agreed.
“Is Heather coming?” I asked after a long silence.
“Yeah,” Howie nodded, “Look, Micki. I didnt mean what I said last night. I dont think kissing you was a mistake at all. I mean, Ive been waiting so long to just taste your kiss, and I finally did and I cant believe what I said,” Howie sighed.
“Howie, I dont want to ruin your relationship with Heather. I mean, AJ and me, our relationship is basically over,” I said.
“I dont want Heather, Micki. I want you,” he said.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“As sure as Im gonna get,” he answered smiling. We leaned in at the same time and pressed our lips together.
“Damn, come on,” AJ yelled walking out. Howie and I broke apart and looked at AJ.
“You bastard. You’re lucky I dont kick your ass,” AJ said to Howie.
“AJ, stop,” I said.
“You know Micki. I was going to try to work things out with you. From now on though, I dont want anything to do with you,” AJ said and walked off.
I looked at Howie and took a deep breath.
“What the hell is going on?” Heather asked walking up.
“Heather, we need to talk,” Howie said jumping off the stage. She stared at me while Howie walked up to her.
“What?” she barked.
“Come with me,” Howie said.
