"Honey, I need to talk to you," Nick said the next night as we sat down in the resturant.
"Ok, what's up?" I asked smiling.
"Um, I was talking to my manager this afternoon and well there's some news," he started.
"Ok," I said getting worried.
"Well, they want us boys to start recording again and uh, they want us to start in two weeks," he said looking up at me. My eyes got wide.
"What does this mean?" I asked.
"It means that Im going to finish school through a tutor and we wont see each other as much," he replied.
"Wow, this is short notice," I breathed.
"Yeah, but this new album means a lot to me and my career," he said.
"Well, Im happy for you," I said smiling.
"Are you ok with it?" he asked.
"Well, even if I wasnt it wouldnt stop you from doing it," I pointed out.
"I just want your input," he whispered.
"Nick, if it makes you happy, it makes me happy," I said, a weak smile on my lips.
"Thank you Marissa," he sighed in relief.
"Anything," I smiled. P> "What can I get you two to drink?" the waitress bounced up to the table.
The rest of the night, I stared blankly and tried to imagine not seeing Nick as often as I do now. Im going to miss him.
"Are we still going to Homecoming?" I asked.
"Of course!" he exclaimed, "I promise."
"Thanks Nick," I smiled.
"Hey, Im not going to let you down," he whispered.
Nick had just pulled into my driveway. He got out of the Durango and I got out too.
"Call me when you get home," I ordered him.
"You know I will," he smiled pulling me into his arms.
"You are so beautiful Marissa," he said kissing me softly.
"I dont know what I would do without you," I told him.
"I love you," he said looking into my eyes.
That is the first time he had said that. My heart started pounding and a huge smile spread across my face.
"I love you too," I replied pressing my lips to his.
When we pulled apart he looked me in the eyes and smiled, "God must be crazy."
"Why's that?" I asked.
"Because, he gave up his most beautiful angel for me to hold," he said. My eyes water and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"You are too good to me Nick," I told him.
"No, Im not," he said smiling.
I looked at him and kissed him again.
"Go wait for me. I'll call you in ten minutes," he whispered.
"Ok," I nodded and gave him one last kiss and walked off towards my house.
"I thought I told you not to see him anymore," my father hissed.
"I love Nick Dad and there's nothing you can say or do to tear us apart," I told him, angry.
"Right," he said and walked off.
I walked up to my room and layed down, my phone on the nightstand next to my bed.
Ten minutes later it rang.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Good night baby," Nick's soft, but boyish voice said.
"Good night Nick," I whispered back.
We hung up and fell into a dreamless sleep.
"Marissa, you have flowers downstairs for you," Ruthie said coming into my room. I looked over at her and got up.
"Flowers?" I asked confused.
I raced downstairs and found a bouquet of red roses in a vase on the kitchen counter.
"Who are them from?" I asked looking at Ruthie.
"I dont know. I didnt look," she shrugged.
I searched for a card and finally found a letter in the roses.
