"We're going back out on tour," AJ told me, hesitantly. My jaw hit the floor. No, this cant be happening.
"When?" was all I could say.
"A month," AJ said softly. He took my hands into his and looked into eyes.
"For how long?" I asked.
"Two months, it wont be too bad," AJ tried to assure himself more than me.
"Yeah, not too bad," I whispered. This was horrible. He cant go on tour! By the time he leaves, I'll be too attached. I took a deep breath.
"Is that what Brian and you were talking about?" I asked curious.
"Yeah," he answered softly.
"Im hungry," I said, trying to get something else on my mind.
"Ok," AJ whispered and we walked to the kitchen. We ate in silence.
~A Few Days Later~
"Hi, can I help you?" I asked a young woman, about my age. She was beautiful. She had big, crystal clear eyes, and long dark hair. Her skin was a deep tan and she was very petite. I couldnt help, but envy her.
"Yes, um, Im going to be meeting an old boyfriend tonight. Actually Im going to surprise him, but I need a great outfit to impress him with," she told me.
"Ok, well is there anything you have in mind?" I asked.
"Nothing fancy, sexy, yes. And, revealing," she smiled.
"Ok, well, we have some dresses over here you might like," I said walking her over to the back of the store.
I was back at work. It was Tuesday and it felt more like a Monday.
"I love this!" she shreiked looking at one of the maneqiens (I dunno how to spell it). It was a tiny black tube top and a short black skirt with a daringly long slit up the side.
"That would look great on you!" I replied honestly. She would look good in it and it made me sick.
"Thanks, I'll take it," she told me.
"Ok, what size do you need?" I asked.
"Top, medium and bottom size 2," she answered. I grumbled to myself. I got the correct sizes and she bounced back to the dressing room.
As I waited at the desk for her, I started thinking. Exactly one week ago, I spoke to AJ for the first time. I smiled to myself as I remembered how he told me I made him shy. Tomorrow would be our one week anniversary. I suddenly felt better. I couldnt wait to get home and see him.
"It fits!" she exclaimed coming up to the desk.
"Good," I smiled and rang it up.
"52.34," I told her. She handed me a few bills and before I knew she was on her way.
I yawned as I looked around the store. Tuesdays were never busy, except during Christmas season. My boss, Cathy was talking to a customer. I looked down at my watch and saw it was time for me to go home. 5:30. Thank G-D. I walked back to the offices and Cindy, the receptionist was sitting at her desk filing her perfectly manicured nails.
I dont even understand what Cindy's job was. She didnt do anything except run errands for Cathy. I shrugged to myself and clocked out. I was glad to be on my way home.
"Melissa! Hey honey, Im having a Valentines Day party Saturday, Id be honored if you came, bring a date of course," Cathy said rushing up to me as I was walking to the elevator. I cant believe I totally forgot about Valentines Day. I guess after all these years of having no one to spend it with, Ive gotten used to ignoring the holiday all together.
Yeah, I mightve been with Josh for two Valentine Days, but he never got me anything or said Happy Valentines Day. If I remember correctly he wasnt even home.
"Oh, yeah, Id love to," I answered smiling.
"Great! I'll give you details tomorrow," she smiled. I smiled back and got into the elevator. I felt nausea sweep over me as I went down. No one else was in the elevator with me, but...
Finally I was driving home. I couldnt wait to get home and see AJ.
