Chapter Sixteen

I followed Nick to his house and we went in.

"Nick?" his mother asked looking from him to me and back to him.

"It was a fake Mom. She got roses and a note from 'me' breaking up with her too," Nick explained.

"Who would do something like that?" his mother asked.

"That's what we're trying to figure. We have two suspects," I told her.

"Who?" she asked.

"Brad and my dad," I answered.

"Oh," she nodded.

Nick's mom knew everything that was happening, as far as why I cant be with Nick and my 'wedding' after school gets out.

I think the best way to do this is act like we broke up when you go home today and act really happy about it. Maybe then, someone will confess," Nick suggested.

"Yeah, that's a good idea," I nodded.

"Better go now. They'll wonder what happened to you," Nick said.

"Yeah, I'll go now," I agreed.

"Um, I'll call your cell phone, ok?" he asked.

"Ok," I said.

"Come on, I'll walk you out," he told me.

"Aww," his mom gushed.

Nick blushed, "Stop Mom."

I grinned at his whiny attempt to get his mother to stop teasing him.

Nick and I walked out to my car and I got in.

"Im so sorry about this weekend," Nick said leaning down.

"Me too," I agreed.

"I love you Marissa," he said.

"I love you too Nick," I said. He leaned over further and pressed his lips to mine.

"You're too good to be true Marissa," he whispered to me.

"I love you Nick," I said.

He smiled.

"Drive safely baby," he ordered.

"I will," I agreed.

Finally, I was on my way home. When I arrived, I walked inside and saw my father, Brad, and Brad's parents sitting around the front room. I groaned and smiled fakely.

"Hey honey," my dad greeted.

"Dad! Today was the best day!" I exclaimed. Acting mode: Turned On.

"Oh yeah? Why?" he asked looking confused.

"Nick and I are finally over with it! I got rid of him. It's about time too. I was getting so tired of him!" I said, laughing slightly.

"You're happy?" Brad asked.

"Yeah, it's great! I cant wait to tell everyone," I sighed.

My dad smiled and looked at Brad's parents and they were smiling too. They were all guilty!

"Well, angel, why dont you go shopping for your homecoming dress tonight," my dad suggested.

"Great! Credit card?" I asked.

My dad handed it over without hesitation. I smiled as I stuffed it in my pocket.

"Thanks, I'll go now," I said and left. I rolled my eyes as I got in the car. Im buying the most expensive dress I can find.
