*Nick's Point Of View*
I smiled to myself as I was driving home. I dont know what happened to Veronica, and personally, I dont care. Marissa and Brad were going to convince their parents that they want to be with other people. It's going to be great, Marissa and I will finally be allowed to see each other.
I cant even express how much I love Marissa, she's just so amazing.
As I drove down the street, I saw an ambulance, firetruck, and many cop cars. It looked like a pretty bad accident. I slowed down as I passed it. I hope no one got hurt.
When I got home, I heard the phone ringing, I raced to it, knowing it was Marissa.
"Hey beautiful," I said smiling.
"Is this Nick?" asked an umfamiliar female voice.
"Yeah, who is this?" I asked confused and forgetting my embarrassment.
"This is Nicole, Marissa's cousin," she said. She sounded like she was crying.
"Is everything ok?" I asked concerned. A picture of the accident flashed in my mind, that couldnt have been her. I shook the vision away and listened.
"Nick, there's been an accident. Go to the hospital now. I'll meet up with you in the emergency room," she said, sniffling. I hung up the phone and ran towards the door, tears threatening to fall from my eyes.
"Nick is everything ok?" my mom asked coming out of her room.
"No, Mom, I got to go to the hospital. Marissa was in an accident. I'll call you," I said and ran out the door. I jumped into my Durango and rushed to the hospital. When I ran into the emergency room, a thin blonde jumped up and greeted me.
"Nick! Hurry, she may not make it," she said leading me down a hall. We turned into a room. There were so many machines and wires coming out of the limp body on the bed. The tears returned to my eyes.
Marissa's father was at her bedside. He didnt look too upset.
"Uncle Robert, maybe you should let Nick have some time with Marissa, alone," Nicole said bitterly.
He looked up, he stared at me with sad eyes. Without a word, he got up and left the room.
"Marissa, baby, it's ok. Im here," I said taking her hand in mine.
"The doctor doesnt give her until the end of the night. Make sure you tell her whatever you wanted to tell her," Nicole whispered and left the room.
"Marissa, I dont understand why this had to happen to you. Tonight was so perfect. You're beautiful hair was pulled up and you looked so gorgeous in your gown, just looking at you made me fall deeper and deeper in love with you. I dont know what it is about you, but you make me feel so good. I remember the first time I saw you come in homeroom. You looked so annoyed, but it was so cute," I said, smiling.
"I remember Veronica's face when you told her I was your partner, not her. She wasnt happy, but you didnt care. If you want to know the very moment I fell in love with you, it was the moment you sat next to me in homeroom. There was a vibe about you and I told myself, 'Wow'. Thats the only thing I could say. If you die tonight Marissa," I choked, "Im going with you. I cant bear to live a life that doesnt involve you. I know I have fans that would miss me, but it could never compare to how I would miss you."
"I brought you some water Nick," Nicole said coming into the room.
"Thanks," I whispered.
She sat the cup down next to me and left the room again.
"You're so beautiful Marissa," I said moving some hair out of her face.
"I love you so much Marissa, I wont let you leave me," I sobbed.
I cant even explain what I was feeling right now. My heart was being broken in two and there was nothing I could do about it and there was nothing Marissa could do either.
Marissa's eyes started to flutter and they opened.
"Marissa!" I exclaimed.
"Nick," she whispered.
"Shh, baby, it's going to be ok," I told her.
"No, Nick. It hurts too much," she winced in pain. I couldnt stand seeing her in so much pain.
"Marissa, dont leave me," I begged.
"I'll always be with you Nick," she whispered and drifted off to an eternal sleep. I busted out crying, not holding any of it in anymore. Im not going to live without her, I cant. I ran out of the room and called for the doctors. Nurses and doctors flooded into her room, trying to revive her. I couldnt bear to watch.
