Chapter Four

"See you tomorrow!" Cindy, the receptionist called to me as I walked out the doors of the building I worked in. I was exhausted. I just wanted to go home, crawl into bed, and go to sleep. I got into my Honda Civic and put my seat belt on.

I turned on the radio and raised the volume. Finally I was on my way home.

"We've got Backstreet Boys tickets for tonights show. Caller nine wins. Now, the Backstreet Boys with 'Larger Than Life'," the DJ announced.

I smiled as I thought about Leah. I didnt know the show was tonight! Maybe they were having another show. Id be quite upset with Leah not informing me on this small detail. But, she was excited.

I liked the beat of the song. I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel. Finally I leaned over and turned the radio up, enjoying the song. When I pulled up to my apartment, I turned off my car and grabbed my purse. I walked over to the mail boxes to get my probably unwanted mail. When I got there I saw a familiar face looking down at his mail.

"Hey Brian," I smiled as I opened my mailbox.

"Oh hey Melissa! What's up?" he asked.

"Not a whole lot. You?" I asked.

"I gotta get going. Gotta work tonight," he said, his accent thick as ever.

"Melissa! The concert's tonight!" Leah said running up to me.

"I knew you would do that," I laughed.

"What concert?" Brian asked curiously.

"Backstreet Boys. Ive never even seen them or heard their music. Actually I heard a song of theirs today," I said thoughtfully.

Brian chuckled and his face got red. He looked down and shuffled it nervously.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing. Have a good time tonight," Brian said.

"Wait a second! I bought both CDs today. You look like Brian!" Leah exclaimed.

I looked at him questionly. Was he a Backstreet Boy? Oh my goodness. That would be so amazing. Ive become friends with a Backstreet Boy and not even known it!

"Guilty as charged," Brian laughed.

"Really?" I exclaimed. He nodded. This was too much.

"I can get you backstage passes," Brian told us.

"Already got 'em," Leah told him smiling.

There was something in the air between those two. I couldnt put my finger on it, but there was something. The way he would shyly look at her. I dont know maybe it was just me.

"Great. I got to go. But I will see you before the show," Brian smiled.

We watched him walk off. Leah kept staring, even after he was gone.

"You live by a Backstreet Boy," she squealed.

"I talked to him last night. I was in the pool with him," I stuttered.

"Thats awesome," she sighed.

"You like him," I declared.

"Huh?" she asked snapping out of whatever trance she was in.

"I know it!" I laughed as we walked back to my apartment. Leah's car was parked right next to mine.

Right when we got inside, through my window I saw Megan pull up next to Leah's car.

Finally~

We walked through a long hallway until we got to the room where the BSB were at. Leah knocked enthusiastically. She was talking non-stop about Brian on the way over.

"Melissa!"Brian greeted when we walked in.

"Hey!" I smiled as he rushed over and hugged me.

"Hey," Brian said to Leah, hugging her.

"Leah," she informed him. He nodded and looked at Megan.

"You are?" he asked.

"Megan," she replied. He nodded and hugged.

"Hey guys. Here are girls with backstage passes!" Brian called.

Two dark haired guys got up from the couch and came over. I learned one was Howie and the other was Kevin.

"Where are the other two?" Brian asked looking around.

"Here! We're here!" a blonde rushed into the room.

I think I stopped breathing. That was that guy that I bumped into at the mall. Nick, I think it was. I looked at Megan and saw her whole face light up like a Christmas tree.

"I remember you from the mall," Nick said looking at all three of us.

We all smiled and looked at each other. I didnt even think to consider that AJ was in the group, but non the less, he was on my mind.

"Sorry Im late," a deep raspy voice said fromt he entrance of the room.

My heart began to pound a hundred miles a minute and my brain began to feel scattered. As soon as I saw that amazing figure walking towards us, everyone disappeared except him and I. I was in a world controlled and owned by him. I couldnt speak, breathe, think, or hear anything but him.

He looked at me shocked. He didnt have on sunglasses like before, and I got to look deep into his eyes, allowing me to search his soul, which seemed so mysterious. He stared at me with as much intensity as I was staring at him. There was so much tension between us. I knew there was something in the air with us. Like we were giving each other and everyone else in the room a vibe that declared love.

"AJ, man," Howie said snapping his fingers in front of AJ's face. AJ looked at him surprised.

"I told you so," Leah whispered in my ear, referring to her telling me that if him and I were meant to be that we would meet up again some day. I didnt mean for it to happen the next day, but I wasnt complaining, at all.

"He has a girlfriend," My brain informed me.

"AJ this is Megan, Leah, and Melissa," Brian pointed us all out.

AJ shook Megan's hand and then Leah's. Then when he got to me, a shy smile spread across his face. Howie, Brian, and Leah engaged themselves in a conversation as Megan, Nick, and Kevin had their own. It was just AJ and me.

"Im not usually shy when it comes to women, but I must admit Melissa, you're making me very shy," he smiled.

I smiled back, my face turning red.

"Im very surprised to see you again," AJ told me.

"You remember me from the mall?" I asked. We walked over to a couch and sat down.

"Yeah, it was only last night," AJ laughed.

"Yeah, well its not like we talked or anything like that," I pointed out.

AJ rubbed his goatee like he was in deep thought. His eyes were like deep pools of chocolate and I was mesmerized by them.

I wanted to just burst out and tell him I loved him, but I would look like an idiot. I wanted him so badly, right then and there.

"I met Brian last night. He lives in my apartent complex," I told AJ, trying to make conversation.

"Really? Thats strange. How long have you lived there?" AJ asked.

"About two months," I replied.

"Ive never seen you there," AJ said.

"Likewise," I said smiling.

"I live in there too," AJ told me. That was too much! I thought I was going to pee my pants. That cant be true!

"Really?" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, Brian recommended it to me. Im living with Brian to see how I like it and everything. The apartments are pretty big," AJ pointed out. I cant believe we're talking about this. Hey, at least we're talking.

"Him and his girlfriend," I said more of a statement than a question.

"I dont have too many nice things to say about her," AJ whispered. I smiled.

"Neither does Brian," I commented.

AJ chuckled and looked at me, more like stared at me.

"What about your girlfriend?" I asked, my heart aching.

AJ shrugged and broke the stare.

"We're not dating anymore," AJ stated.

"But," I said confused.

"She doesnt know how to I guess you could say let go," AJ stated.

"Show time guys," a man said coming into the room.
