Chapter Eight

It was the end of the night and Nick was walking me to my front door.

"I had so much fun tonight Nick," I said smiling up at him as we stopped in front of my door.

"So did I. I know Ive only known you a few days, but Im so happy you said yes," he said smiling.

"Yeah. Its kinda weird, because usually I wouldnt do that. But, I really like you," I said smiling.

I was waiting for the long passionate kiss, which I still hadnt received. He was being a real gentlman about that. I was impressed.

"The guys like you," he told me.

"Really? That's good. I wouldnt want them to not like me," I sighed in relief.

"Yeah, and you and Leah seem cool," he said smiling.

"Yeah, she's cool," I nodded.

"Marissa! Get in the house," my father growled opening the front door. I jumped, startled.

"I'll be in in a minute," I told him.

"Make it quick," he said sternly.

"Ok," I whispered. My father shut the door and I looked up at Nick.

"Im sorry. He's still really mad at me," I apologized.

"It's not your fault. I was going to give you a nice kiss, but I dont want your dad walking out on that," he laughed.

I laughed, "Yeah."

"So, I'll call you tomorrow, ok?" he asked.

"Ok," I nodded.

"Good-night beautiful," he said and pressed his lips to mine. Soft, but romantic.

I waved as he got into his car and drove off. I walked into the house, my father standing in the hall, waiting for me.

"That will not happen again," he ordered me.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

"You will not go out with him tomorrow. Ive arranged a dinner date with Brad and his parents for tomorrow at 5:30 sharp," he said.

"Im not going," I declared.

"Yes, you are," he told me.

"No, not really."

I walked up to my room.

"What happened?!" Nicole shreiked as soon as I got to the top of the stairs.

"Whoa, you scared me," I said, my heart pounding.

"Sorry. So, what happened?" she pressed.

"Im going out with him," I giggled.

"Uh oh," she said frowning.

"What?" I asked.

"Your dad is gonna be pissed," she said.

"Yeah, well. He already told me I couldnt see him," I told her as we walked to my room.

"What are you going to do?" she asked.

"Well, I really like him. Im going to go out with him. I dont care what my dad says. He cant tell me who Im going to date and marry, Brad," I said rolling my eyes.

"Yeah, I understand," she nodded.

"Im going to bed Nicole," I told her.

"Ok, sleep tight and dont dream too much," she said smiling.

"I'll try," I said smiling back.

I changed into a large tee shirt and turned off my light. I laid in bed and thought about how much I couldnt wait to talk to Nick tomorrow.

*The Next Day*

"Marissa, Nick's here," Nicole said coming into my room. I blinked and sat up.

"What?" I asked.

"Nick's here. Better hurry before your dad chases him away," she advised.

I jumped up, not even thinking about what I was wearing. I rushed into the bathroom, brushed my teeth and ran downstairs, not caring what the rest of me looked like.

"Nick!" I exclaimed.

"Good morning Marissa," Nick said smiling.

I ran up and hugged him.

"You even look beautiful in the morning," he said kissing my lips softly.

"Thanks," I said blushing.

"When I woke up this morning, I realized that I didnt have your phone number, so I came by. I hope that's ok," he said.

"Of course! Im glad you came," I said smiling.

"Thats the first time Ive seen her in a good mood in the morning," Nicole commented on her way out the door.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"Practice," she answered.

"Oh," I nodded.

"Come on Nick," I said leading him upstairs to my room. That way we wouldnt be bothered with my father.

"You're not a peaceful sleeper, are you?" he laughed looking at the balled up sheets on my bed.

"I guess not," I blushed.

"Marissa! You need to start getting ready for dinner tonight," my father said walking into the room.

"Dad!" I scolded.

"What are you doing here?" he asked Nick.

"Dad! That is so rude. How about you leave? He's here because I want him here," I said annoyed.

"You're still going to dinner tonight," my father told me.

"No, Im not," I said stubbornly.

"We'll argue about it later," he said sternly and left the room.

"With Brad and his parents?" Nick asked.

"Yeah," I said frowning.

"Why dont you go and just get your dad off your case about it. Make Brad's parents hate you and they'll completely disapprove of getting married," Nick said smiling.

"Thats a good idea," I said jumping up from my spot on the bed.

"It was a joke," Nick said.

"But, its perfect."
