Chapter Fifteen

*~* The BBQ *~*

Howie answered the door to see Brian and some blond chick before him.

"This is Tiffany," Brian introduced.

"Nice to meet you Tiffany."

"Tiff." Howie tried to resist rolling his eyes.

Before Howie had a chance to close the door Nick entered.

"What happened to you?" Howie asked.

Nick didn't say anything. "I don't think he wants to talk about it." a girl I didn't know said.

"Brit?" Tiffany questioned.

"Hey Tiffany."

"I TOLD YOU!!" Tiffany screamed referring to the fact that all her friends were dating or having sex with the Backstreet Boys.

Britney didn't say anything. "Where's Alli?" Nick asked. Britney raised her eyebrow.

"She'll be here any second," Howie said grinning from ear-to-ear.

"Who?" Alli asked entering the open door.

"Hey babe." Howie said walking up and kissing her cheek.

"Hey," She blushed then turned her attention to Nick.

"Hi," she said.

"Britney?"

"Allison." Britney and Alli were friends, but only because their friends were friends.

"Hey guys, looks like we're a little late." Kevin annouced, his hand intertwined with MacKenzie's.

"It was Alli's fault!" MacKenzie said. (Alli had caught a ride with them.)

"Was not!" She defended.

"Hey Brit." MacKenzie smiled and hugged her best friend.

"Tiff," she continued hugging her.

"Come on, let's all go out to the patio." Howie suggested with his arm around Alli.

The group made their way outside when Howie heard the doorbell ring again.

"I'll be back." He said squeezing Alli's shoulder.

*On the Patio*

" I didn't know you were friends with Nick...?" Alli said to Britney.

"Well...yeah" Britney smiled. "We gotten kind of close." She thought back to the previous evening.

"That's nice." She walked over to where MacKenzie, Kevin, Brian and Tiffany were, leaving Britney and Nick in the corner.

"What is her problem?" Nick asked kind of pleased by her jealousy.

"Sexual frustration," Britney giggled.

"Do you think she likes me?" Nick pressed.

Britney forced the attraction for Nick out of her mind as she gave him her objective opinion.

"Maybe."

"So..." MacKenzie said as they were sitting around.

"Yeah. So how was your date last night?" Kevin asked looking at Brian and Tiffany. Neither said a thing.

"It was nice," Brian said politely.

Tiffany snuck a tiny eye roll to MacKenzie who was trying to stiffle a giggle.

"Wanna join the party?" Kevin called to Britney and Nick who seemed to be having a rather intense conversation.

They stood up slowly and made their way over.

*Other places* "Hey D, is Kirsten here?" AJ asked frantiaclly entering.

"There are a bunch of ladies I don't know, but I don't recall any of them being named Kirsten."

"You sure?" Howie nodded.

"What's going on, man?" Howie asked.

"C'mere." AJ motioned for Howie to follow him into the bedroom.

"I said sex last night."

Howie nodded. "And?"

"Well, she was drunk and I was drunk and and I'm not sure we used protection."

"AJ, you are constantly getting laid, what's the big deal?"

"I dunno, I've just got a feeling, I hope she doesn't like me and tell the press and everything."

As if cued, the doorbell rang once more.

"Go out to the patio and tell them I'll be out in a sec."

AJ obeyed and Howie walked to the door. "You must be Kirsten." Howie concluded as he opened the door for a VERY attractive blond.

"I bet you would feel like a jackass if I said no." She smiled and extended her hand.

"Howie."

"Kirsten."

"Come on in." He said and lead her out to the patio.

"Hey guys," Kirsten said to the group of people out on the patio. She purposely avoided giving AJ eye contact. MacKenzie sensed something was wrong with her best friend, she patted Kevin's knee and whispered that she'd be right back after talking to Kirsten.

Tiffany was growing bored with Brian, so she made her way over to MacKenzie's date, Kevin.

"hey," She said flirtaciously to Kevin.

"Hey..." Kevin said trying to ignore the obvious signals Tiffany was sending. She was wearing a tight top that clung to her in all the right places and short shorts that dared to creep further up her thighs as she crossed her legs. Kevin swallowed hard to avoid having her know he was obviously turned on by her looks.

MacKenzie glanced over at the scence between Kevin and Tiffany. Noticing Tiffany's advances, MacKenzie was angered, but strangely she didn't care. 'Maybe I don't even like Kevin like that...' she thought to herself.

"Hey sweetie, what's going on?" MacKenzie asked Kirsten who was standing silently.

"I think I made a huge mistake last night." Kirsten whispered tears welling in her eyes.

AJ glanced in Kirsten's direction and noticed her talking intently to MacKenzie. 'She's gorgeous.' he thought to himself watching MacKenzie comfort Kirsten. 'Too bad I fucked her best friend.' He put his head in his hands.

"Try not to think about it sweetie." MacKenzie said.

"I am trying... it's just... I'm not the type of person who has sex with just anyone. I just wasn't thinking clearly."

"Do you want me to talk to him and see what he thinks about it?" MacKenzie asked.

Kirsten thought about it and the nodded. "Why don't you go talk to Kevin's cousin," she suggested pointing to Brian, "he had a date with Tiffany and I'm pretty sure he's tramatized." This brought a small smile to Kirsten's lips.

"I'll go talk to AJ." MacKenzie told her. 'Who I find incredibly sexy...' she added to herself.

MacKenzie walked over to AJ. "Hey." She said to him.

"Hey." He said looking up.

"I heard about your night." AJ groaned.

"Yeah..." He said regretfully.

"Listen, Kirsten feels just as bad. She doesn't really want you to think she wants to be with you... it was a mistake."

AJ's face brightened. "That's good news?" MacKenzie questioned.

"I feel the same way. I was afraid she was going to like me and want some kind of commitment from me!" AJ said relieved.

"Nope."

"How's life with Kevy?"

"I don't think me and Kevy are anything but friends."

"Wow. For only knowing each other for awhile, you guys went through the whole relationship cycle pretty fast."

MacKenzie laughed.

"Well, since it appears that we are both single... would you maybe want to go out sometime?" AJ asked.

MacKenzie glanced apprehensively at Kirsten who was giggling at something Brian had said.

"Sure."

"Great."

"So then, I told her," Nick said cracking up, "it just wasn't working out." Britney, Kirsten, and Brian were rolling with laughter at Nick's jokes.

"You're so funny!" Britney complimented.

"Thanks." Nick said watching her eyes sparkle intently.

Kirsten and Brian had turned to speak to each other and Nick leaned over to Britney's ear.

"Don't make it obvious, but look over my shoulder and tell me what Alli and Howie are doing..."

Britney contained the jealousy boiling inside of her and glanced past Nick to where Howie and Alli seemed to be in a world all their own.

"Well, they seem to be talking," Howie pressed his lips to Alli's, "err... kissing." Britney said then touched his knee."I'm sorry." She whispered sympathetically.

"Well. I'm ready to go." Nick said standing up.

"Yeah, I'm beat." Kirsten stood up and stretched.

"I'll walk you to your car." Brian offered. (awww.)

"You ready?" Nick asked Britney.

"Hey. Do you think I could catch a ride with you guys?" Alli asked looking at the couple she had came with. (they were now with other people.)

Nick shrugged. "Sure!" Britney said.

"Okay. Thanks." Alli kissed Howie's lips quickly.

Britney, Nick and Alli exited.

"You wouldn't mind terribly if I couldn't take youhome... would you?" Kevin asked MacKenzie, he looked from AJ to her.

"Can you take me?" She asked AJ.

"Sure."

Tiffany, Kevin, MacKenzie & AJ waved goodbye to Brian and Howie and left.
