Chapter Eighteen

*MacKenzie*

I felt extreemly akward being in the car with AJ. I mean after all, I started the evening off with a differnt guy. Also, he screwed my best friend.

"What?" He asked staring at me.

"What?" I repeated.

"What are you thinking about?"

'How sexy you are and how hard it is to stay over here.' I thought, "nothing."

"You look like the wheels inside your head are spinning." I smiled.

"Well... no, I'm just thinking."

"Ahh... so may I interupt your thoughts?"

"Sure..."

"I have a question... what is up with you and Kev?"

I inhaled, "why?"

"You came with him, he left with Tiffany..."

"And I left with you."

"Right.. but I wanna know about your feelings for him,"

"Well, I thought I liked him, but we are so differnt, plus I walked off for a second and he was already flirting with Tiffany."

AJ nodded, "Were you jealous?"

"What is this 20 questions?"

"I just want to know."

"Not really... I wnated to find out what happened with you and Kirsten because I was a little attracted to you."

"You...were..."

"Or am..."

"Or?"

"Or."

"Well, you must've liked him, because you slept with him," AJ stated changing the subject.

"You must've like Kirsten a lot to sleep with her." I shot back.

"I was intoxicated."

"As was I."

"I feel guilty."

"For?"

"For being attracted to you."

I felt the color rise to my cheeks.

"But," I asked

"But. I feel bad. I feel like I owe something to Kirsten and I, and the relationship we should've had before having sex."

"You don't seem like the bad boy I met at the club."

"I'm not as sure of myself as I was. I thought all there was to life was getting laid and partying... but Kirsten and me were friends... I could talk to her... I don't wanna loose that."

"I assure you, Kirsten's not that type."

"What about after she finds out how bad I want her best friend?"

My lips curved into a smile. "I think she has Brian to keep her mind off of it."

We pulled up into the driveway, "Can I walk you to the door?" he asked.

"Sure."

We walked and he stopped me as I went to look for my key.

"I'd like to see you again,"

"Me too." I told him sincerely. He took a step toward me so our faces were inches apart.

"I really, really like you." He whispered, his hot breath moistening my lips.

"Me too," I managed. He smiled shyly and reached his hand around my neck and brought his lips to mine in a simple, gentle kiss.

We looked into each other's eyes and smiled. He brought his lips to mine once more, in an equally gentle, but more passionate kiss.

"I'll call you." He whispered before he turned to walk to his car.

I let myself inside and tried to control my excitement.

*AJ*

"You're the man." I mentally congragtualated myself once I got back in the car.

All the way home I replayed the conversation with MacKenzie in my mind. The entire thing was perfect, she was perfect.

Once I got inside I dialed Kevin's number and hoped he was up.

"Hello?" He answered as if he were wide awake.

"Busy?" I asked referring to Tiffany.

"Nah.."

"Um... I needed to talk to you."

"About?"

"MacKenzie."

"What about her?"

"Do you...?"

"Like her?"

"Yeah."

"Nah, it was fleeting, I mean she's cute... but man, did you see Tiffany? Did you see her?"

I couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah I saw her."

"Why, do you have a thing for MacKenzie?"

"Yup." I confessed.

"Good luck, I think she's pretty hooked on me."

"Hmmm... well, I'll see what I can do."

~Kevin~

"Who was that?" Kirsten asked entering the room with Brian.

"Noone..."

Brian looked at me and I mouthed "AJ."

"Hmm..." Kirsten said not believing me.

"Maybe I should've gone with Tiffany to get those sodas..." I said looking at the clock.

"Are you, Mr. I-don't-need-a-girl, worried?"

I smirked, "It's late, and dark."

"It was AJ, wasn't it?" Kirsten piped up.

"I didn't want you guys to have to see each other or hear about each other anymore for a little while." Kevin justified.

"I understand...what'd he want?" she aked.

I hesitated, "he wanted my blessing."

"For?"She pressed.

"He wants to go for MacKenzie."

"That's great!" Kirsten exclaimed.

"Right..." I said confused.

"I could tell MacKenzie liked him so I tried to stay out of their way."

"So you were just using me?" Brian whinned.

"of course not!" She kissed the tip of his nose.

"For two people who just met, you act like a cute lil' married couple." I remarked.

Kirsten blushed as I heard someone at the door.

Tiffany entered with sodas and chips.

"This is going to be a great slumber party," she gushed snuggling close to me.
