The flag as we all know represents the blood and lives lost in wars, the flag holds something different to all, but to me it means more than words can say.
I am a 25-year-old woman from Florida.
My father was a Vietnam Veteran and for that I have the most respect. I have also learned to respect all veterans of all wars. Many have given their physical lives for the freedom that we see every day but those who survived gave their emotional lives. They were never really the same after they came home. This short note will never give these men and women the thanks that they deserve, but it will express my gratitude and appreciation for what they gave and never got back. Thank you is never enough but I can hope that you understand that Webster did not create words to define what I feel in my heart. Had it not been for these men and women we would not have the privileges and rights that we have today. For any veterans who happen to read this I cannot say that I understand everything, and God knows that I don't want to! I can say that I can sympathies with what you deal with every day. I dealt with it second hand for the 15 years of my life and it has not been easy for me so I can only imagine what you go through. My father went through the bouts of depression, the guilt, the flash backs, the after effect of Agent Orange and anything else that you can think of. I could go on and on about what he has been through and what he has put his family through but if you are a veteran then the point is futile. You already know. I will ask that if you have any thoughts or true stories that might help a man in serious condition to PLEASE E-mail me at the address below. Thank you for your time! If you want feel free to e-mail me at the address listed below. My Mother GOD love her has walked every step of the way with Him. She was president of the V.F.W. for 3 years and was Founder of a local Vietnam Veteran self help counseling group for 10 years. I myself was president of the JR.GIRLS UNIT of the V.F.W. Post. So if you feel like no one understands or cares, you're wrong! WE do. If you need to talk do not hesitate to contact us no matter what the circumstances We are professionals by no means, but we have been there and understand just a little better than some. On September 14, 1998 my father passed away from this world, my eyes cried an my hear broke for the loss, but I can now say that he is finally free...he is at peace with himself, and God; and I know that I will see him again one day in the future!
