Nease High School Field Meet

•The Nease High School field meet on October 30 went rather well. Though we may not be as great as we were last year, we're not as bad as we could be. All the drill teams performed well and won some kind of award. We also excelled in athletics and academics. The most important part of all was that everyone had fun, and conversations about the rest of the year were started throughout the bleachers. Hopes were high and by the end we weren't very disappointed.

•I was pleased with the outcome of the Nease field meet. What I liked the most was the organization. The liaisons knew what they were doing and were very organized and confident. Although we could have done better than what we did, we did pretty good, specially in the armed routines. The final thing I liked about Nease is that they had good food. Jones

•Nease field meet was a lot better than I expected. I had a lot of fun there. I think that we, as a unit, did good at Nease. It was not as hard as I thought it would be at personnel inspection. I think that the hardest thing that I had to do was push ups. all in all though I think that we did good and had a lot of fun, Benford.

•Going to the Nease was fun. It showed me how good we are, and also how bad we are and how we can improve. It opened a lot of doors, not only for me but us as a team. As an NJROTC unit we need to shape up and stop playing and win. Winning is the best part of the field meet. That is what I enjoy most. There nothing like bring home more than 3 trophies every time we compete. I look forward to more field meet like Nease and even better. Custis

Nease Field Meet Result

As the rain came down and all the schools were crammed into Nease's gymnasium, schools waited unpatiently for the awards to be given out. Suddenly, Lee ís ROTC unit jumped up and yelled for joy. As the other schools wondered what had just happened, Donnelly ran up to retrieve our flags that had gone missing right before Color Guard performed.

•2nd Place - Unarmed Drill and Personal Inspection

•4th Place Overall
•5th Place for Armed Exhibition

From The C.O.'s

•The Beginning
Being the C.O. for the first and second quarter has been great. There were a lot of responsibilties that I was faced with. Even though being a C.O. seems to be too much work, overall I had fun. Being in charge has taught me many ways of how to lead a group, which will help me succeed in the future. Now it is with my pleasure to welcome the C.O. for the second semester, To my knowledge I have started this year successfully, now it is up to him to finish the year with greater success.   •The Ending
The NJROTC unit of this year is not looking that bad. Though it may seem, to some that we are gotten off to a slow start, we have not. Except for the Armed Exhibition Drill Team, All of the teams got underway quite early. (The Armed EX. Drill Team is Doing Good now.) It's all about determination and motivation. I have told the Drill Team, "Drill is a thinking man's game.", and that's what it is. It's all in your head, think positively and you will get it, think negatively and you will not. It's not as hard as it looks, but it takes discipline. C/LCDR Meaders

Aerobics (P.T.)

AEROBICS   Aerobics and Kickboxing
Everyone knows who PO3 Frances Diaz is. If you don't remember her, she is the person that made your body sore for two weeks. She is an aerobics trainer for the gym at the base. Out of all her classes that she has taught, she states that our unit caught on quickly. Before she left she gave us some tips to stay in shape.

1. After getting used to the standard work out don't stop there. Add more exercises that tone your leg , arm, and back muscles, as well as your abs.
2. Females, don't lower yourself to female pushups or sit-ups. You can do whatever a guy can do, if not better.

•The other trainer that has visited our unit was Terry. He also is a trainer at the base, but he specializes in kickboxing. He started working out because he had a weak heart. After months of getting in shape he realized that he actually liked to do the kickboxing aerobic class. after years of classes the gym owner finally asked him if he would like to become a trainer. Terry jumped on this opportunity. Before he left he told the cadets not to get discouraged and keep on working hard. "Don't give up, don't say never, don't build a negative side. Stay focused and you can do anything."

Veterans Day Parade

The Veterans Day Parade was a huge success. Each cadet marched with style and attitude, which made us the best high school in the parade. The crowd cheered us on, both children and adults. The crowd chanted "GO LEE!!!" They also said we looked good. This gave each cadet a feeling of pride, and made them proud to represent Lee High School NJROTC. After the parade they went to the landing for lunch.
This gave everyone an opportunity to interact with cadets from other schools. If you did not attend the parade you missed out on a great chance to improve your marching capabilities.

•The Veterans Day Parade was a lot better than last year. The reason for this was that we did not march as long as we did last year. Also, last year it was really windy, so the cadets in color guard should feel lucky. I am glad a lot of first year cadets went to the parade this year. The long distance marching taught them to stay together and stick it out.Donnelly
•The Veterans Day Parade was exciting. I believe deeply that everyone enjoyed themselves. To me the parade was not long enough. I could of went on for another thirty minutes to an hour. The unit had a lot of support from former Robert E. Lee students. To all cadets that marched in the parade keep up the good work. To all the other cadets strive for excellence. Foster

The Air Show at NAS Jacksonville

•When I hear of the air show I think of blue angels, but they weren't there this year. So the base had additional performances to take their place. Some of the performances included planes that did flips, spins, and wrote messages in smoke. They were not as good as the blue angels, which was disappointing.
The air show also offered planes that we could tour. Most of the planes were formally used in the Navy. In addition to this they had many booths that you could buy many items such as food, model airplanes, and other stuff. I had fun experience at the air show and I will be back to see the new attractions next year. Brown, An
•I thought the air show was really neat. There were a lot of old planes and even some jet engines. It was a cool field trip to go on because of all the different things to see, and you got to walk around with friends and check everything out. I hope our unit continues to go to the air show because it is a good experience for cadets who have gone and the ones who have. Smith
