AWARDS CRITERIA


1. Earning an award is a significant achievement. In your NJROTC Unit, there are a number of awards that can be earned. Some are awarded in accordance with criteria contained the Cadet Field Manual; others are awarded either by the NSI or by outside organizations to students identified by the NSI as meriting the recognition afforded by an award for sustained superior performance.

2. NJROTC awards will usually be presented at Unit formations, at an awards ceremony, or at an awards banquet.

3.The following awards will normally be presented at a Military Ball or Awards Banquet:
      MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT
      CNET UNIT AWARD
      DISTINGUISHED CADET
      HONOR CADET
      HONOR UNIT
      APTITUDE AWARD
      OUTSTANDING CADET
      EXEMPLARY CONDUCT
      EXEMPLARY PERSONAL APPEARANCE
      Awards sponsored by Fraternal Organizations

4. The following awards will normally be presented at unit formations:
      UNIT SERVICE
      COMMUNITY SERVICE
      DRILL TEAM
      COLOR GUARD
      ACADEMIC TEAM
      PHYSICAL FITNESS
      ORIENTEERING
      RECRUITING
      PARTICIPATION SEA
      CRUISE
      MINI BOOT CAMP

5. The following medals are awarded by the Robert E. Lee High School NJROTC:

COMMANDER'S CUP

Awarded by the NSI to that cadet who has distinguished him/herself through extraordinary contribution to the LHS NJROTC Unit or the community.

CADET OF THE QUARTER

Awarded to that cadet who best exemplifies those qualities that distinguish top performance during the preceding nine week grading period. Cadets will be nominated by the platoon leader through the chain of command. Selection will be made by the COQ Board.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD

Awarded to any cadet who maintains a 3.7 overall GPA.

1ST PLACE TEAM DRILL

Awarded to all members of a competing team that win a 1st place trophy in drill competition.

1ST PLACE TEAM ACADEMICS

Awarded to all members of a competing team that win a 1st place trophy in academic competition.

1ST PLACE INDIVIDUAL ACADEMICS

Awarded to the cadet with the best individual performance during an academic competition.

ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT AWARD

Awarded to any cadet who improves their GPA by .75 over the previous semester.

1ST PLACE TEAM ATHLETICS

Awarded to all members of a competing team that wins a 1st place trophy during a field meet.

1ST PLACE INDIVIDUAL ATHLETICS


Awarded to the male and female cadet with the best individual athletic performance during a competitive field meet.

AIGUILETTES/MEDALLIONS

Aiguilettes for wear over the left shoulder and/or medallions for wear around the neck may be earned as members of the color guard, drill team, academic team or athletic team. Cadets desiring to earn an aiguillette/medallion are required to attend team practices for a thirty (30) week period with no more than six unexcused absences and qualify for exemplary conduct and exemplary personal appearance awards. Thereafter, cadets will be allowed to retain the aiguilette/medallion until the end of the school year as long as they continue to have no more than six unexcused absences during the thirty six (36) week period and remain qualified for exemplary conduct and exemplary personal appearance awards.

VARSITY LETTERS

The principal has approved awarding of Robert E. Lee Varsity Letters for significant achievement in NJROTC. The criteria for earning a letter will be promulgated as soon as it is established.
