Robert E. Lee N.J.R.O.T.C. At:
Jacksonville University Field Meet

In my opinion, the drill meet at Jacksonville University on February 12, 2000 went well. Even though we only got two trophies, we missed getting one of the top three trophies by ridiculous scores. The Unarmed Basic missed third by close to a point and the Optional missed first by a sixth of a point! Anyways, we all did our best and that's what counts. We did finish in third place for Armed Basic and second for Optional drill team.

Florida A. M. University Field Meet

Lee did well at Florida A & M University over the weekend of February 25 & 26, 2000. The trip to the "Florida Museum of Natural Science and History" was enjoyable. Dinner at Golden Corral was great and we had fun with Petty Officer Diaz afterwards doing Taibo afterwards. At the meet, we hung close to the top with such schools as Oviedo and Boca Raton. In the end, the optional drill team came in second place.

Garage Sale

The garage sale on Monday, February 21, 2000 brought in a little over $400 dollars to go towards the unit. Another sale/car wash is to be scheduled sometime in the near future. Thanks to Tiffany Myers and Heather Harper for making all the signs and putting them up. Also a special thanks is deserved to all the cadets who brought in items for the sale, help set things up, and collected donations. Way to go on the group effort it paid off.

Sea Cruise

The cadets of Robert E. Lee High School visited N.A.S. Jacksonville for a day in March. While there they were exposed to survival techniques used in the water. The techniques ranged from ways you can help yourself survive and briefs on equipment used to keep you alive in the water. After being briefed on water survival, the cadets were ready to go out on the water. They went to the docking area and got ready to get on the boat. Finally the cadets went on the water by boat. At the end of the day everyone successfully earned their sea cruise ribbon.

Military Ball

The annual Military Ball is approaching us quickly. The set date is Saturday April 15, 2000 and it starts at 7:00 P.M. till 12:00 A.M. The location of the ball is at Vital Signs on the base. Congratulations the top three in the Mr. Lee contest. Our very own Joshua Chitty won second runner up. The second runner up was the second year cadet Ens Chris Jones.
