Chapter 11

Tina jumped up from her place on the couch next to Nick when she heard the phone ring in the kitchen. Looking at the caller id, she realized it said "unknown".

She frowned, wondered if she should really pick up the phone, and lifted the receiver.

"Hello?" She said into the phone.

"Who are you?!" A voice said rudely into her ear. Tina sighed.

"Well, I kind of live here, and this is my house and my telephone number. I think the question is, who are you?"

"I thought this was Nick Carter's number, guess I was mistaken..." the voice answered.

Tina smiled. "Nope, sorry, it's not his." The girl appologized and hung up. Tina walked back into the living room to see Nick and Ananda still watching tv.

"Well Nicky, it seems as if one of you fans has my number and thought it was yours. Can you imagine how many people must know?"

Nick looked up from his place on the floor. "No way... Wow this is really fucked up..."

Tina raised her eyebrows and pointedly looked at Ananda, who was clearly listening.

Nick pressed his lips together (you know the way :)) and got up and was followed by Tina to the kitchen.

"Sorry about that..." He said, looking at the floor. "I didn't mean to say that in front of her..."

Tina smiled and brushed a strand of hair from his eyes. "It's ok Nicky, I know it was an accident." In some ways, it seemed to her, Nick still acted like a little boy.

He looked in her eyes and they both smiled. Tina realized something was wrong...

"Umm... where's Brian?" She asked.

Nick cleared his throat. "He left this morning."

Tina looked at Nick carefully. "Ok... You wanna explain to me what last night with you guys was all about?"

Nick looked up quickly. "There wasn't a reason, I was just feeling kinda low and he thought he could cheer me up." He said, ending with with a nod.

Tina raised an eyebrow. "With alcohol?" She asked disbelievingly.

Nick shrugged. "I dunno..." He said looking down again and shuffling his feet.

Tina sighed and wrapped her arms around his waist. "I'm sorry Nick, I just wanted to know what was going on." She said leaning her head against his chest.

He rested his cheek on her head. "You didn't do anything Tina, don't be sorry."

She looked up at him, smiled, and gave him a soft, short kiss, which he gladly returned with boyish happiness.

She pulled away. Looking at her with sad eyes, Nick tried to capture her lips once again. Giggling, she turned her head away.

Licking his lips, he growled at her. Tina burst out laughing.

"Nick... where in the world did that come from?"

He smiled innocently. "From here." he said pointing to his chest.

Still laughing, Tina ran into the living room, where Nick promptly joined her.
