"They might’ve gone out." he suggested.
"You check the bathroom, I’ll check the bedroom." Brian walked off in the direction of the bathroom while Kara walked over to the bedroom. The door wasn’t shut, but it was pushed ajar. She gently nudged it open, taking a peek inside the room. "Aw!" Kara whispered to herself, smiling. Nick and Hannah were asleep in the bed, in each other’s arms (looking decent of course!). Kara left the room and crept through to the bathroom. "Bri? I found them."
"Where are they?"
"Asleep in the bedroom."
"Oh, I see." Brian and Kara exchanged knowing smiles. "You go take a peek, they look so adorable!" Kara gushed, and Brian opened the door of the bedroom slightly and took a look.
"I see what you mean!" he replied, whispering as he crept back over to Kara. "Do you wanna just head down to the bar or something and grab a drink for a while?"
"Yeah, we’d better leave them for the time being." Kara smiled at Brian before kissing him gently on the lips and taking his hand.
"Hannah? C’mon baby, it’s time we got up." Nick told Hannah, stroking his sleeping girlfriend’s hair gently. Hannah just groaned slightly, but her eyes didn’t open. Nick rolled his eyes and grinned. Hannah was like that - she’d put off getting up for as long as possible! "Han…wake up sweetie…" Nick spoke softly into her ear, stroking her hair some more. Hannah opened one eye and looked at Nick.
"Do I have to get up?" she asked sleepily.
"Yup. Sorry, but it’s about time we vacated the room." Nick smiled lovingly at her. Hannah opened her other eye and moved closer to Nick, wrapping her arms tightly around him.
"No, I wanna stay with you forever." She kissed his neck and his chest gently, then hugged him close to her.
"I know, and I wanna stay with you forever too, but I can’t." Nick’s tone was saddened by Hannah’s loving touch, and the way she loved him with all her heart. Nick wrapped her up in his arms, kissing her neck gently and nibbling her ear.
"I love you so much, Nick." Hannah told him as he kissed her neck softly.
"I love you too, Han." Nick placed his lips on hers, and they kissed lovingly for a little while. Nick then had to pull away…as it wasn’t fair to keep Kara and Brian from their room and their time alone together. "Hannah, we really have to go now. I want to stay here as much as you do, but it’s not fair to Kara and Bri…"
"I know…I just wish there was a way we could see each other." Hannah looked and felt sad, as she was once again being split from Nick for what was sure to be a considerable length of time.
"The only way that will happen is if we tell everyone. And…we can’t." Nick stroked her hair gently, running his fingers through her soft, blonde hair.
"I know." Nick looked at Hannah and could see that tears had welled up in her eyes. As I mentioned earlier, Hannah never cried.
"Hannah? Sweetie, are you crying?" Nick was concerned. But Hannah just bit her lip and shook her head, letting Nick wipe away her tears with the back of his hand. "Oh, come here." Nick held her tightly once more, as tight as he could possibly hold her. Hannah just cried in Nick’s comforting arms and he held her close, smoothing her hair gently with one hand.
It was then that Brian and Kara came back again. "Hannah and Nick? You guys about?" Brian called.
"We’re in here," Nick replied. "And we’ll be out in a couple of minutes, okay?"
"Sure, no problem bro’." Brian called back.
"I think this means it is definitely time to go." Nick told Hannah softly. Hannah just sadly nodded her head and pulled away from Nick’s arms. They both got dressed relatively quickly and were just about to leave the bedroom when Nick held Hannah back. "Never forget that I love you, okay?" Nick smiled at Hannah, and she smiled back, even though she was still feeling upset.
"I love you too." Hannah let Nick hold her once more, and the couple kissed quite passionately before leaving the bedroom with Nick’s arm around Hannah’s waist.
"So, how’re you guys doing?" Kara asked, her expression sympathetic when she saw Hannah clinging tightly onto Nick, not wanting to let him go.
"We’re okay." Hannah mumbled sadly. Nick tightened his grip around her waist slightly, letting her know that he felt as she did.
"You going back to your own rooms?" Brian asked as he sat on the couch with his hand in Kara’s.
"Yeah." Nick told his buddy as brightly as he could.
"Thanks a lot you guys, for letting us have your room. We’re really grateful. Thanks again." Hannah smiled gratefully.
"Not a problem, honey." Kara told her, returning the smile.
"Okay, I think it’s time we were off." Nick announced, leading Hannah toward the door.
"Bye you guys." Brian and Kara called in unison.
"See ya." Hannah called back, and Nick nodded with a smile. Then he turned toward Hannah.
"Baby, I’m afraid it’s goodbye." Nick held her close in his arms as Hannah desperately tried to choke back her tears. Kara looked on, feeling bad that Hannah was so upset, but also helpless as she knew she couldn’t do anything to help.
"I love you Nick." Hannah managed to say hoarsely through her tears.
"I love you too." Nick pulled away from Hannah, and Hannah flung her arms around Nick’s neck. She pulled his head close to hers, and kissed him softly. Nick’s arms, which were already around her waist, held her closer to his body. Nick and Hannah kissed a bit more passionately, before Nick finally pulled away and sadly left the room.
Of course, Hannah and Nick couldn’t leave the room together, so Hannah was left with Kara and Brian. Kara walked over to Hannah and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. Hannah burst into tears, and Kara held her younger friend as she cried.
"Hannah? Where’ve you been?" Jessica asked as Hannah returned to her room a little while later.
"I felt better and went for some fresh air. How was your shopping day?"
"Oh, it was good. Except for the fact that we got stopped quite a few times ‘cos fans wanted the guys’ autographs. ‘Cos there were four of us girls and four of the guys, most of the fans thought we were each dating a Backstreet Boy!"
"Maybe you should all date." Hannah suggested, managing a half-smile.
"Actually, I was meaning to talk to you about something."
"Yeah? What?" Hannah sat down on the coach and gestured for Jess to join her.
"I fancy one of the Backstreet Boys." Jessica confessed.
"Really? Cool…which one?"
"You’ll hate me!" Jessica grinned.
"Who is it?" Hannah was puzzled.
"Your #1 enemy." Hannah’s expression suddenly changed. "Hannah, you don’t have to look like that. Nick’s actually a really, really nice guy…you just don’t know him."
"Uh…I dunno what to say…" Hannah was absolutely speechless.
"Do you think he fancies me?" Jessica asked earnestly.
"I wouldn’t know." Hannah replied, feeling completely shocked. Panic echoed through her.
"Well…you see…there’s another twist to my love-life…"
"What?" Hannah asked, feeling suddenly wary.
"I also like Howie." Hannah instantly cheered up.
"Oh, I reckon he fancies you." Hannah told Jessica with a grin.
"You do?"
"Yes! Yes! I definitely do! You should really try and make a go of it with him."
"Well…if you think I should…"
"Oh definitely!" Hannah interrupted her, smiling.
"Okay then!" Jessica and Hannah then spent the rest of the evening discussing ‘Jessica and Howie’ dating strategies.
The next day, it was time for the Backstreet Boys to move on to their next destination. Nick and Hannah were having a tough time keeping their hands off each other on the bus. They needed and wanted each other so badly, all the time. They were deeply in love, a passionate and meaningful love that would never die.
Kara and Brian had agreed before to help the couple find moments alone with each other, and they planned to help them as the tour progressed.
"Hey guys, you want to go eat at a restaurant?" Brian suggested as they pulled up at a relatively large service area.
"Yeah, sure!" Laura exclaimed happily (she was feeling full of energy and longed to stretch her legs).
The others all agreed, except Nick who said he was playing his Nintendo, Hannah who said she wanted her own food that lunch-time, and Kara who wanted a shower.
"You’ll all be okay here?" AJ asked Kara, basically asking her if she’d be all right left alone with the "enemies".
"Yeah, sure, we’ll be just fine." Kara gave him a reassuring smile and gave Brian a thumbs-up sign as the others all traipsed off the bus and into the restaurant of their choice.
"Thanks Kara." Nick thanked her with an appreciative smile. He took Hannah’s hand and led her into the TV room. They sat down side-by-side on the couch.
"Nick, this tour is going to be hell. I want to tell everyone, I want to tell them now, I want to be with you 24/7. I can’t live without you constantly in my life, baby, I just need you so much. I love you with all my heart." Hannah shifted herself closer to Nick and rested her head just below his shoulder, Nick putting one arm around her, his hand resting on her tummy.
"I need you in exactly the same way you need me, Hannah, I love you with all my heart too. I have never been in love before now. And although love is wonderful…it is also pure torture. Keeping us a secret is just so difficult, and frankly, I don’t wanna do it anymore."
"You don’t?" Hannah pulled away from Nick and looked hopefully up at him.
"No. I think it’s time we told." They exchanged happy smiles and Nick stroked Hannah’s features gently, tracing the outline of her lips and cheekbones with his fingers. They kissed until they heard Kara knock on the door and tell them that everyone was on their way back.
"How are we going to tell them all?" Hannah asked Nick as they prepared to leave the room together. "I guess we just tell them?"
"Well let’s see what conversation arises and tell them when the time is right, yeah?" Nick smiled down at Hannah.
"Okay baby." They kissed gently once more and left the room altogether.
That evening, Hannah and Nick were both feeling frustrated and pissed off as there hadn’t been a chance for them to tell everyone. They’d had to keep away from each other all afternoon, and this was making them both very irritable.
"Hannah honey, it’s time for dinner."
"Okay, fine, whatever." Hannah snapped at her sister as she left her bunk. Charlie just sighed and rolled her eyes.
At dinner, the conversation turned to Brian and Kara.
"We think it’s so great that you guys have gotten together. You’re such a cute couple." Jessica commented kindly as they ate the meal Kara had made.
"Yeah, it’s nice that you’ve managed to keep it going on this tour. We reckon you’ll be great." Howie smiled at them. Hannah could feel tears welling up in her eyes, and she could see Nick getting more and more annoyed and upset.
"It’s nice to have a bit of love on the bus…" Charlie started, but Hannah had taken all that she could take. Hannah started to cry, there on the bus, in front of everyone. "Hannah? What’s wrong?" Charlie asked her younger sister, obviously quite concerned.
Nick looked up from his meal as soon as he heard Hannah start to cry, and he hated to see his girlfriend go through so much pain. Nick knew that this was the right time to tell everyone about him and Hannah, and so he did what he had to do. He got up from his place and walked over to where Hannah was sitting, crying. He took her hand and pulled her up and into his arms. As the others (except Brian and Kara) looked on in confusion, Nick held Hannah tightly and she cried into his shoulder. Nick gently smoothed her hair with one hand as the other held her tightly at the waist.
"What in the hell is going on?!" AJ cried.
"I haven’t got a clue." Laura replied, almost whispering as she was so in shock.
All eyes turned back to Hannah and Nick. Nick was telling Hannah something, but so quietly that no-one could hear what he was saying. Hannah nodded and smiled at Nick, and he carefully brushed away some of her tears with the back of his hand.
"Okay, I’ve missed a step here." Kevin commented loudly as he turned his back to the couple and turned toward the others.
"I think it’s more than a step we’ve missed." Jessica told him, and gestured for him to look at Hannah and Nick.
Hannah was softly running her fingers through Nick’s hair and smiling lovingly up at him. Nick was smiling back, and as he did so, tipped Hannah’s chin up with his hand. They exchanged loving smiles as Nick lowered his head toward Hannah’s, and their lips met in a righteous kiss.
"Oh man," Charlie said hoarsely. "Nick and Hannah…woah…"
"Isn’t it great?" Kara asked Charlie with a happy smile.
"Oh yeah, it’s wonderful. Just a bit of a…ahem…shock."
Nick was now cradling Hannah’s head in his arms and kissing the top of her head, her arms wrapped tightly around him.
"I love Nick." Hannah told her friends happily. Brian and Kara exchanged delighted smiles, and the other six softened slightly.
"We can tell." AJ told her with a smile.
"I’m in love with Hannah." Nick told them all, blushing as he said it. He and Hannah continued to stand, wrapped in each other’s arms.
"Oh man, that’s so romantic." Howie said honestly, giving Jessica a shy smile.
"There’s definitely a lot of love on this bus!" Charlie exclaimed suddenly, grinning at her younger sister, giving her the thumbs-up sign.
"Yeah," Kevin agreed, "There sure is."
Once Hannah and Nick had sat back down with everyone else to finish the evening meal, everyone wanted to know about the ‘new couple’.
"How long have you guys been dating?" AJ asked curiously.
"You know when Hannah and I played Nintendo that morning and we had to hold a rematch?" Nick asked him, and AJ nodded. "Since then."
"Wow, that long huh?" Kevin commented.
"It’s been so hard keeping it a secret." Hannah told them, cuddling Nick, and Nick responding by stroking her hair gently.
"Man, it’s been awful. But I think it just made us stronger as a couple." Nick smiled down at his girlfriend, who was delighted to just be in his arms in public.
"We still can’t get over the fact that you haven’t been hating each other all this time…you’ve been loving each other!" Jessica exclaimed.
"It’s gonna be so strange seeing you two hold hands and hug and kiss and stuff. It’ll take some getting used to." Laura said, sneaking a flirtatious look at Kevin, making him blush.
"Well you’ll have to get used to it ‘cos there’s no way we’re gonna be fighting again." Hannah told them with a confident smile. She turned to Nick and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. He blushed but returned her kiss with one of his own.
"Guys, we’re gonna head into the TV room now." Nick told them, gently taking Hannah’s hand and pulling her up off the couch. The couple blushed and Charlie grinned at them both.
"See ya in a while." Hannah added.
Hannah and Nick went into the TV room, locking the door behind them.
They sat down on the couch, Nick immediately taking Hannah in his arms and kissing her gently. The gentle kisses became more passionate, and her hands slid up his shirt to touch his toned chest. Nick pulled away from the kiss and took his shirt off, Hannah kissing him once more on the lips before kissing his chest.
As she did this, Nick ran his fingers gently through Hannah’s hair. Hannah stopped and gave Nick a cheeky smile as she fiddled with the button on the top of Nick’s jeans. She undid it, and then she did it up again, several times. The teasing was driving Nick mad, and Hannah could see this showing through his jeans. Hannah kissed back up Nick’s body and kissed him on the lips, eventually undoing his button and fly with her hands. They continued to kiss as things got a bit more steamy.
"I love you Nick." Hannah told him happily.
"I love you, baby." Nick said equally as happily.
A while later, Nick and Hannah reappeared from the TV room, and found themselves faced with an empty bus. But Laura had left a little note stuck on the refrigerator.
"Dear Hannah and Nick," Nick read. "We all decided that the two of you needed to spend some quality time with each other, so we have gone out for a walk. We will be a couple of hours as we will probably visit a club or a bar or something. Have fun in the empty bus and use the free time wisely, as we now have concerts every night for the next week or so. See ya later. Love from Exclamat!on and the Backstreet Boys."
"Wow, we have the whole bus to ourselves?! We should definitely use this time wisely, baby, we’re never gonna get an empty bus again!"
"I know," Nick agreed. "So what do you wanna do? I mean, we could just chill out together with the TV, or we could go into a bunk, or we could relax to music…"
"I fancy watching a movie. That sound good to you?"
"Yup, that sounds just great." They exchanged happy grins and settled down on the couch again in the TV room. They didn’t bother to lock the door or anything, Hannah just snuggled in Nick’s arms as they watched one of Hannah’s favourite movies (Nick had told her while choosing that he could put up with a "girlie movie" for a little while!), so they watched Ever After.
"Hannah? Nick? You guys about?" Charlie called as she climbed back onto the bus.
"Cute couple?!" AJ called, stifling a laugh. But there was no sign of them, and they couldn’t hear anything either.
"Maybe they’re in a bunk?" Brian suggested. They checked all bunks, but they weren’t in there.
"I’ll check the TV room." Jessica offered. She went in there, and then called the others in. "Um, guys…I’ve found them." The others peered around the door and there was a round of "Aws!" as they looked at Hannah and Nick. The film had finished and there were just fuzzy lines on the TV, and Hannah and Nick were asleep in each other’s arms.
"Man, they’re so cute!" Kara gushed, holding Brian’s hand (as she had been all evening).
"Tell me about it!" Charlie agreed. She smiled fondly at her sleeping sister, looking peaceful and happy in the arms of the one she loved.
"I bet they’ll live happily ever after." Brian said, slipping his arm around Kara’s waist.
"You reckon?" Jessica asked.
"Yes, as a matter of fact I do." Brian finished, with a happy smile on his face. "I think we’ll all live happily ever after."
And you know what? They all did.
