"Nick, I’ve got something to tell you, buddy." Brian said to his best friend nervously.
"Yeah?" Brian nodded. "Well go on, Bri, I’m all ears!" Nick laughed.
"You might be a little shocked..."
"Nothing you could ever say could possibly shock me!" Nick assured him.
"Okay, okay." Brian paused. "I think I’m in love."
"Woah! That’s great, bud! So who’s the girl?"
Brian looked worriedly at Nick. "Your best friend."
There was a long silence while Nick absorbed the information.
"Lucy, huh?" Nick asked, obviously extremely surprised.
"Yeah. I mean, I’ll understand if you don’t want me to see her..."
"No, no, of course not. If you’re in love with her...go ahead."
"Thanks, bud. I just thought I’d better ask you first before making any moves on her."
"Yeah, thanks, that was good of you." Nick seemed stunned. "But, uh...does she love you back?"
"I don’t know," Brian replied with a grin. "But I’m getting all the right signals from her...I think I’ve got a good chance."
"Wow. Well, that’s really great. Good for you, Bri." Nick smiled sincerely at his buddy.
"Thanks Nick." Brian grinned at his best friend and gave him a friendly pat on the back before exiting the dressing room.
