Baby's Breath
Your child is lying in the wake
of a new world, touch him not,
in the ancient swirl.
Let this baby's breath
come pleasingly,
He comes abreast to breathe on thee.
Touch not his softly falling hands,
Let them lift up by God's breath alone,
That is how we perceive of him -
warm and well and strong!
(written one month before
my daughter had a boy,
and i didn't know she was
even expecting!)
