Never Judge a Book By Its Cover
Chapter 5
***3 Hours Later***
"Would you please shut up?" I asked irritated. Erika would not shut up about meeting Nick all day. She had gone through about 15 million outfits trying to decide which one to wear.
"Isn't he so cute? I really hope he likes this outfit," she said standing in front of the mirror. "Did you page Brian yet?"
"Yes! Are you going to ask me that every 3 seconds? He still hasn't called me back either in case you forgot from 3 seconds ago."
"Sorry, I'm really excited! So, what are you going to wear?"
"This," I said gesturing to my baggy jeans and my adidas shirt.
"No your not! Come on, we'll find something for you to wear," she said pulling me off my seat on her bed and dragging to my room. She was wearing a knee-length brown skirt and a satin looking light brown shirt with dark brown flowers on it that matched the skirt. She also had on a pair of brown platforms and her blonde hair was brushed down to her shoulders. Her blue eyes sparkled beautifully with all the brown in her outfit.
"Here...wear this black skirt and this silver shirt with these black platforms," she said handing me a long black skirt with slits that came up to the knee on both sides, a silver slinky tanktop and a pair of black strappy platforms.
"Are you crazy? I'm not wearing that!"
"Oh come on! You never dress up! You're going to be meeting people who are famous! Don't you want to look good for them?"
"I could really care less who they are!"
"You know you care!"
"I know...but I just really don't like that shirt."
"Then you can wear...I know! I'll be right back!"
Erika got up and ran back into her room. Just as she left, the phone rang. I pulled myself up and walked to the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi...uh...is Kaitlyn there?"
"Yeah, this is her. Who's this?"
"Hey! This is Brian."
"Oh, what's up?"
"Nothin. This is the deal...we can't exactly go to a movie because of, you know, security and all that jazz, so we thought maybe you guys could just come over here and hang out for a while."
"Come over where?"
"Oh, sorry...to our apartment."
"Oh...okay. That sounds good! Where do you live?"
Brian gave me directions to his house and then said goodbye. That's when Erika walked back into the room.
"Hey Kate! Who was that?"
"Brian...we're going to his apartment instead. He said it was because of security reasons. Which means I get to wear my jeans and t-shirt. I'm not about to dress up to go sit at some guy's house!"
"Alright! Now I have to go find something to wear again!" she said leaving my room. I laid down on my bed and thought about Brian. I wasn't rude to Brian because I hated him...I just had a hard time getting close to guys after what had happened to me in the past. Brian was adorable and very sweet, but I had to keep my distance. I couldn't stand the thought of letting what had happened to me twice, happen to me again.
