JUST IN TIME part 1

It all started on Aug 14, 1999 when we tried like everyother dedicated Backstreet Boys fan. That is the day that tckets went on sale for the up coming USA Millennium Tour. I with y trusty credit card with a balance of unknown amount waiting bye the phone till the clock stuck 1000 am to start dialing Ticketmaster. Whle at the same time Raquel was standing out side of Carsons, for six hours, with cash in hand, to get tickets there at 1000 am also. And to think, neither one of us got any at all. At 1000 I picked up the phone and dialed the chicago area, just to get a busy single, so i went to plan two... out of state numbers. I called several diffrent states, including ones that were not going to be on the tour, just to realize everyone else was doing the same thing. To o avail, I didnt get nothing.

Here I was thinking that I had it bad, but Raquel got it worse by far. She stood in the rain for six hours, being the third person in line when she got there, for them topull some lottery deal. About a half hour before sale time, a guy came out and handed everyone a little ticket, which by that time there was about 150 people in line altogether. He then proceed to put all the matchng tickets into a buckets, shuffled them around some, and then put his hand in and pulled number #68 out. He then informed the crowd that the person hld in 68 would be first in line and then it would continue on with 69, 70 ect, until it was over. Raquel ended up almost in the middle, but by the time she got up to the counter, all the tickets were sold out.

About 2 weeks ago, we dicided to go look for part time jobs so we could save up our money for when they comeback to chicago.next year, or maybe we would move to Florida to be closer to them..but that was not looking as a goal that was gonna be met with in this decade. So Raquel suggested we go to Ohare Airport to see if they were hiring, and I suggested Kmart or McDonalds.

With that we went with her idea and got dressed in Job Needing attair and climbed in my Taurus. We got onto the Tollway and headed for the Airport, just to run right into rush hour traffic. Waiting in Chicago bound traffic on the tollway is like being parked in parking lot, with out the ablilty to leave your car or turning it off, and i hate it more than I do Booby Rears..or what ever her names is.

"What position are you going to try out for?" Raquel asked me, while fininshing her makeup in the rearveiw mirror.

"I dont know, but i hope it isnt some thing to do with cleaning toilets"

"Well, Im going to try and get Tickets sales or something cool like that. You wont see me working at McDonalds"

"Well" I said, as i grabbed the lipstick from her "Ill be happy if i get a job at all.."

"Yeah well, I heard they were hiring so Im sure well get something. That color dont look good on you, ya know."

"If you hadnt of busted mine, I wouldnt have to look retarted using yours."I replied, as we pulled off on to the ramp that lead straight to the parking lot of Ohare.

The time was now 2:30pm and the place was packed. We rolled through the diffrent levels of theparking lot looking for a spot that wasnt 500 feet from the nearest entrance. We found one that was 499 feet away instead, on the Bears level. You gotta give a city props when their airport names its parking levels after all the Pro teams for that city..what next? We got out and pulled a slip of paer off the wall that told us where we had parked and got into the elevator and headed twords the first floor. We stopped on the third and a little old man who just happened to work for the airport got on. We asked him where we had to go for applications and he had to draw us a map. Then our doors opened and we told him thank you, and went our seperate ways.

Raquel was hold the paper and examininng it, when we both realized that niether one of us had eaten lunch. We saw the food court and made our way throught the people to get something to eat...did i mention that the place is packed? Yup, I think I did. But anyways, I got a salad from Burger King and she got a soft taco from Taco Bell, and both places and including McDonalds, has NOW HIRING signs up. Oh yeah, I can already see it now. In my future Ill be known as the "Welcome to Taco Bell..would you like to try our new gorditas today" girl in the airport..

After we ate, we ventured off looking for the Airport Services booth, using the map the old man had made us. After what seemed to be three miles and a hour later we found it...next to the food court. We approched it to see a younger girl our age giving a couple advise on what to do about their lost luggage. I guess she loked more promising than the signs we'd seen in the food court.

"Ma'am, all I know is that it could be in Denver or Alaska, either way..we'll find it!! The girl, whose name was Tina, told the wife. "Just call this number and they'll have the problem fixed in no time."

"Now" she said, turning to us, "How can I assist you two today?"

"Oh, well, we both need applications to work here" I said with a smile, hoping she had some.

"Okay cool. What exactly are you looking for?" Tina asked pulling out a green folder.

"Anything is fine" Raquel told her "But no cleaning toilets"

"Aww..thats to bad" Tina looked up 'Those are the only positions open right now" She told us, then bust out laughing.

"You are joking right?" We both answered to her shocked.

"Yeah!! Come on now...loosen up some. and besides, we have a professional cleaning service that does that."

"Ohh okay..hee hee..um well, what do you have available?" I said

"Here, just take these" she said while handing up each a pamplet "And go fill them out and bring them back to me."

"K" We both said.

We took them and sat down at a booth that belongedto Arbys and started filling them out. I swear, the applications looked like they were SATs from back in high school. If she had given us number 2 pencils, then i would have know they were. This thing had questions like "Have I ever stolen from an employer" and "Have I ever had a job under a diffrent name". I guess if your going through an airport, you want the best people huh.. The apps took a little over 45 minuted to do, and we gave them back to the girl. She then called her boss up and told him. She told us to wait because he wanted to speack with us both. As soon as she told us that a tall, rather good looking man came out of a door behind her. Man he was cute. He introduced himself as Mr. Dinetti..why did that name sound so familiar.

He then took each of us individually into his office for and interview. When everything was done, I ended up getting a position doing deliveries to all the diffrent stores in the airport and Raquel got a job close to what she wanted. Hers was checking in the passengers for their flights at the main gate. Now thats one hell of a cool job!

We shook his hand and said good bye to Tina and told him that we would be back the next day at 800 am. We finally got back to our car, and left for home, just in time to get back into the aftermath of the rush hour...the accident hour I call it. Cause thats when you see all the hit cars and accidents that happened during rush hour.
