The Paladin He's the saintly warrior of strength and honor, and a real life saver when battling undead or when in need of healing or curing. His powers range mostly in the "godly" areas but he's quite the man to brawl as well and very much the Swordsman. He unfortunatly is the most misunderstood of the classes. As the title which he represents suggests more of a warrior than a magic users or multi-class character type, but that'd be seeling this character short.
So who exactly is he? He's a combination of strength and agility met with the powers of a mage. No he can't fire off fireballs or bolts of lightning at any of the monsters, he does just fine approaching them with a sword and hacking them to bits. What's his use then? Well to be honest many will enjoy that he plays very closely to the original Warrior of Diablo 1, though with plenty of interesting twists to keep you interested in him. You won't find him wanting to pick up an axe or anything, because he does ever-so-much nicer with a single-handed or double-handed sword. Hands down. The attacks with them are definetly more devestating being a knight of valor and honor, who lives by his god and his blade. He specializes in skills that aid his preservation of himself and his fellow warriors at his side through combat, and battling the unholy and undead warriors he specializes in ridding the world of. The abomonations of god, the spawns of hell.
So he's a vampire hunter... how does he play? Again he plays very much like a Warrior from the original Diablo but with twists. His skill tree's are the twists, as without these the Paladin WOULD be the Warrior to most degrees. He's in fact the only character who uses the skill (from the original Diablo as well) Holy Bolt. He is the only character that in the game has spells and skills to heal up or cure ailments. He is the only warrior of his nature who can use magic. The only one who masters in everyones favorite weapon of deadly percision, The Sword. He's the only character who combines the some of the powers of a Barbarian with some of the powers of a Sorcerer. He is truly one of the most interesting characters to play as, and specializing his skills to utter perfection is the key to playing any succsessful Paladin.
Mmm... marvelous so how do his skills work exactly? This warriors real power and usefulness is in his powerful skill trees. The Paladin can emit offensive and defensive auras which aid him in combat. He has an entire tree which is used to protect and defend against the undead and use his holy powers as well. He makes for the perfect companion in any party, allowing him to heal others as well as himself, cure, and be a big assett when taking on deadly and the undead in heavy combat situations. Auruas that aid in his dispatching of the evil, while helping others stay alive or even bringing them back to the game, this knights skills alone will make him a VERY popular character on-line indeed, and the gamers with the best all-around Paladin's built up shall be very popular as well with their characters in parties. Healing alone is one of the biggest assets in the game, and since healing potions in Diablo II will be more scarce, the Paladin will be a comforting site for sore, beaten-down eyes of other gamers playing. Why? Well you want to live don't you?
