2003 Delray Drag Race

This year's 4th annual Delray Drag Race sizzled in record-breaking temperatures of 92 degrees with only moderate winds out of ESE. Jesse said, "The sand was hot enough burn the hemorrhoids off a red headed step child's ass" Special thanks to Bob, Christy and Robert Grubb, Mark D., Ellen, Chris, Mike T., Chuck, Serge, Craig, Annette, Lisa, Mark H. and everybody else who helped with the event.

The new system for the race worked well, sort of. The Hobie Getaway started a full hour before the I-20, but our 30-mile course speed calculation anticipated a stronger afternoon wind, which never showed up. Oh well, everybody finished within 1/2 hour anyway. Several teams decided not to finish due to thirst, hopelessness and boredom.

Congrats to all the first place winners and especially to Bruce McKeever and Lori Fischer winners of the big trophy for first to finish. Only one boat flipped in the light conditions, Collard and Callahan on a Nacra 6.0.
