TODAY'S WORD
I am back in the United States now, and I have 17 days to prepare for my departure to Africa. Much has been happening today, and I feel that I must put out a call for help.

Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 16:8-9

"But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries."

I feel that both of these things are true concerning my planned mission to these three countries in Africa. An effectual door has been opened to me, and I am very cognizant today that there are many adversaries arrayed against me.

Today, I came up against a great obstacle. I was reviewing my airline reservations. Somehow, my electronic ticket with British Airways was issued for departure on 9/22/2004. I need to depart on 9/2/2004.

Initially, I thought I would simply make the change, but I encountered great difficulty, that, at one point, left me thinking that I would have to purchase totally new tickets, and suffer a total loss of the purchase price of the tickets that were issued on the wrong date. They were purchased on Priceline.com, and they clearly state in their terms of purchase that no changes are allowed. British Airways, likewise, would make no changes to my itinerary. I was very near a panic.

BUT, GOD!

I called upon the Lord, and declared His sovereignty over Priceline.com, and over British Airways, and I asked for direction. Then, I sent an email off to Priceline.com, and asked God for favor with them.

Three hours later, I received a reply from them, and they gave me the favor I had asked. The changes cost me an extra $354, bringing the total cost of air travel on this trip to $2,928.

I would almost swear on a bible that I had booked that itinerary for 9/2 initially. How did it wind up being 9/22? We have many adversaries, and I need much prayer covering from all of my friends at this time. Yes, I need financial support too, but I sense that I need the prayer cover even more.

I did some work, and received pay on Sunday, so I was able to send $500 to David Machimbo in Kenya, to begin printing flyers, posters and handbills for our crusades there. God has brought me a new client as well, whom I will meet Friday. It will be a good job, building a website for a small business. So, God is blessing me with work that I can complete in the 17 remaining days, and earn some of what I need to travel with.

Then, with all of that, I am storming heaven with my prayers. I desire that God might accompany this ministry with more miracles. Might our heavenly Father impart the gift of miracles to His servant? I am asking Him to do so. Will you ask with me?

Please pray for me and my family. Now more than ever, I am acutely aware of the need.

This is my planned itinerary.

09/02/2004.....Depart From Miami on British Airways.

09/03/2004.....Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya, after connecting through London Heathrow Airport: 17 hours in the air.

09/04/2004.....Travel from Nairobi to Eldoret, Kenya, on AeroKenya. 09/06/2004.....Three days of ministry are planned in Kapsokwony, Kenya, which is in Central Western Kenya, at high altitude. The plan is to hold one large, outdoor crusade, which will require that we rent a sound system. We will also hold two days of seminars for the pastors, and hopefully prophets, who are in the area. I will also be preaching in churches. We will hopefully be staying in homes near Kapsokwony.

09/09/2004.....Four days of ministry are planned in Chwele, Kenya, which is about 20 miles West of Kapsokwony, in Central Western Kenya, near to Mt. Elgon. The plan is to hold one large, outdoor crusade. We will use the same sound system. We will hold three days of seminars for the pastors, and hopefully prophets, who are in the area. The anticipated costs for Kapsokwony/Chwele are: $500 for handbills and posters, $400 for sound system rental and up to $800 for transportation and lodging. I am urging David to try to reduce the last amount as much as possible, by arranging for us to stay in homes. I will also be preaching in churches.

09/13/2004.....Three days of ministry are planned in Uganda, in the cities of Mbale and Kampala. David Machimbo is trying to arrange and coordinate for an outdoor crusade, but, at a minimum, we will hold meetings with the pastors. The anticipated costs involved in this ministry are: 1) Handbills and posters-$300, 2) Transportation and lodging-Up to $500. Hopefully, we will be staying in homes near Mbale and Kampala.

09/16/2004.....Three days of ministry are planned in the area around Webuye, Kenya. This will involve preaching in a church on Sunday, as well as meetings with ministers. 09/21/2004.....Depart from Eldoret, Kenya, travel back to Nairobi on the AeroKenya Shuttle, and then I will fly from there to Lagos, Nigeria on Kenya Airways.

09/22/2004.....Arrive in Lagos, Nigeria

09/23/2004.....Fourteen days of ministry are planned in private homes, and in the streets of Lagos, Nigeria. My ministry contact in Lagos is Jimmy Akodo, whom I call Papa Jimmy, a close friend of mine, and a member of my home church, Harvest Fellowship, when he is in the United States. 10/07/2004.....Arrive in Miami, Florida

So, that is what I know right now. I need to send David Machimbo the rest of the money for the posters and handbills as soon as possible. As I said earlier, I sent him $500 today. I need to send him another $400 very soon. David also tells me that we need to reserve the sound system too, which will cost $400 to get the best price.
