The Florida Greyhound Association Auction and Fundraiser held Friday night, February 18, 2005 at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, Florida was a great success! Special thanks to NGA President Charles Marriott of St. Petersburg, NGA Board members Fred Fulchino of Rhode Island, Tracy Wildey of Kansas, and, Jim Blanchard and Randy Finegan, Florida's NGA Directors. Also to Derby Lane and Vera Filipelli for their cooperation and delicious buffet. This was a national effort by the greyhound industry to show its support of the sport in Florida.
The National Greyhound Association has been in partnership with the Florida Greyhound Association for the past 12 years. The progress in Florida legislatively would not have been possible without their involvement. The entire memberships of the FGA is very grateful to the NGA for this fundraiser and participation as we continue our fight to "Keep Florida the Greyhound State!"
The details of the event are listed below. However, a special "thank you" goes to Hal Gill who did an outstanding job as auctioneer for the evening. Hal moved the auction along and brought good humor to the room of bidders. Oh - and most important of all, the event raised over $36,000 for the FGA's Legislative Fund.
