The Greyhound Owners Association of Jacksonville, Florida was the model for the formation of the other local associations in our State.
The kennel operators of the three race tracks in the northeastern corner of Florida formed this group in order to maintain their Schooling Track and to handle any problems that might rise between the kennels and the race track officials. Noting its success, the Florida Greyhound Association encouraged the formation of local associations throughout the state.
The current president of the GOA is Jim Rae. This group has been very active in all functions of the FGA. They are very involved politically as well as culturally in the Greater Jacksonville Area.
The Jacksonville Kennel Club and the Orange Park Kennel Club Meets are now being ran at the Orange Park facility. The third facility in that area is the St. Johns Kennel Club, however, the live racing is also handled at Orange Park.
The members of the GOA are active participants in the greyhound adoption program for this area. They work in close cooperation with the management of the Jacksonville race tracks and Greyhounds As Pets of Northeast Florida.
