The JWL [Episode 50]

JOHN "EARTHQUAKE" TENTA 1963-2006

The JWL extends its condolences to the family and friends of John Tenta. R.I.P.

Live from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Municipal Auditorium, Kansas City, MO

We do a ten-bell count for John Tenta.

You know the drill.

JR and Tenay welcome us to the show and announce that tonight's main event is the Faces of Fear defending the JWL World Tag Team Titles against the Nasty Boys in a rematch from Slamboree.

Before we get to the opening match, we see JWL World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit and Raven brawling backstage. JR hypes their upcoming World Title match at The Great American Bash.

Opening tag team match: The All-Stars ("Mr. Technical" Barry Horowitz and the Brooklyn Brawler) vs. Christian and Randy Orton

LG: "The following tag team contest is scheduled for one fall."

("At Last" plays)

Crowd boos.

LG: "Introducing first, representing the Royals, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing in at 216 lbs., CHRISTIAN! And from St. Louis, MO, weighing in at 245 lbs., RANDY ORTON!"

("Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba plays)

LG: "And their opponents, at a total combined weight of 461 lbs., from St. Petersburg, FL, BARRY HOROWITZ and from Brooklyn, NY, THE BROOKLYN BRAWLER, THE ALL-STARS!"

Crowd cheers.

The veterans Horowitz and Brawler bring the action to the younger heels. We get a lot of good wrestling from both sides. The heels take control and Orton hits the RKO on Horowitz, but as he goes for the pin he hears the words he definitely does not want to hear.

I'M THE BOOGEYMAN, AND I'M COMING TO GET YOU!

The awful smoke starts and Orton is terrified. He tags Christian and bails out of the ring. He tries to escape over the barrier but he finds the Boogeyman hiding right behind it. Boogeyman whacks Orton over the head with the clock and tries to feed him the worms. Orton is disgusted and scrambles for safety.

Back in the ring, Christian is shocked to see the Boogeyman too, and does not notice Horowitz recovering from the RKO and rolling him up for the surprise pin at 6:30!

LG: "Here are your winners, THE ALL-STARS!"

Horowitz and the Brawler celebrate and do the "pat-yourself-on-the-back" thing to the cheers of the crowd.

(Trish Stratus video package)

("Time to Rock N Roll" plays)

LG: "Introducing first, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, TRISH STRATUS!"

Crowd boos.

("Poison" by Alice Cooper plays)

Crowd cheers.

LG: "And her opponent, representing the Misfits, from the Toxic Unknown, POISON!"

The women have a solid, well-worked match with good moves and pacing. Trish goes for the Stratusfaction but Poison tosses her over the ropes to the floor! Poison rolls out, throws Trish back in, and hits the Poison Paralyzer (inverted DDT) for the pin at 7:00.

LG: "Here is your winner, POISON!"

(Batista video package)

2 Cold Scorpio vs. "The Animal" Dave Batista

LG: "The following contest is scheduled for one fall."

("Unleashed" plays)

LG: "Introducing first, representing the Royals, from Washington, DC, weighing in at 317 lbs., 'THE ANIMAL' DAVE BATISTA!"

Crowd boos.

(Jungle Boogie plays)

LG: "And his opponent, representing the Hardcore Alliance, from Denver, CO, weighing in at 229 lbs., 2 COLD SCORPIO!"

Scorpio uses his speed and aerial moves to counter Batista's power stuff. It does not last however, as Batista takes control and never loses it. Batista Bomb finishes at 5:00.

LG: Here is your winner, DAVE BATISTA!

Batista continues pounding on Scorpio until Mike Awesome makes the save. Awesome challenges Batista for the Bash, and Batista accepts. The crowd pops for that.

Taz and Knight have a surprisingly well-worked match, with Taz controlling and Knight actually making an effort. Knight goes for the neckbreaker, but Taz powers out of it. Finally, Taz dumps Knight on his head with the T-Bone Tazplex and hooks in the Tazmission for the tapout at 5:30.

LG: Here is your winner, TAZ!

Taz gets no chance to celebrate his win, since Crush runs down and whacks Taz with a chair. Crush challenges Taz to a match two weeks from now and Taz accepts.

To everyone's surprise, the Four Horsemen, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Benoit and "The Iceman" Dean Malenko, with manager "The Horny Little She-Devil" Terri Runnels, run out and beat the hell out of Dusty, Knight and Crush, just for old times' sake. Terri is urging on the beating. JR mentions how Terri and Dustin Runnels were once married, and that Terri may be taking out her frustrations on Dusty here.

Scott Hudson is in the ring.

SCOTT: "Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, I would like to present THE STRANGER!"

("Welcome to My Nightmare" plays)

Crowd cheers.

STRANGER (weird voice): "SHAWN MICHAELS! You beat me at Slamboree, but I am still here! I still have not fulfilled my goal of sending you into retirement forever. I am calling you out because I want a rematch at The Great American Bash. Get out here you has-been!"

Those are fighting words to Shawn Michaels, so he rushes out and gets on the microphone.

SHAWN: "Stranger, you say you want a rematch and that you want to end my career. Well, if you want my career so much then you should have to put something on the line as well. You need to put your mask on the line so that when the Show Stopper defeats you, he can rip off your ugly mask and show the world the uglier face underneath it."

STRANGER: "I accept the stipulations. I beat you, you leave wrestling forever. You beat me, I remove my mask and leave the JWL. I will face you in ANY kind of match. How about something you know very well, Shawn? How about (dramatic pause)....

Shawn leaves, and the Stranger follows.

LG: Here is your winner, JACQUELINE!

JACQUELINE: Hey Molly! If Jazz is getting a title shot at the Bash, I want one too!

(Revolution plays, bringing out the Champ to a big pop.)

MOLLY: Jackie, I accept your challenge as well as the one last week from Jazz for a match at the Bash.

Jazz charges out and knocks down Molly!

JAZZ: No way anybody getting a title shot other than me. Last time I lost a title, it was a battle royal and I was taken out with an injury. I am getting the shot and I am walking out of the Bash as the Champ.

Jackie and Jazz engage in some trash talking as Wreck hits, bringing out Commissioner Foley in his forklift.

FOLEY: Ladies, ladies, please. I have a solution to this problem. At The Great American Bash, Molly Holly will defend the JWL Women's Championship against Jazz and against Jacqueline in a three-way dance! The last woman left in the ring will walk out as the JWL Women's Champion. I hope this is acceptable to all of you. Have a nice day!

Molly gets up and the three women have a staredown, then leave separately.

The two teams pick up right where they left off, with a stiff, rugged, hard-hitting match. Again, nothing fancy, just wrestling and brawling. The FOF regain control and Meng back body drops Sags into a Barbarian sitout powerbomb to retain at 9:00.

LG: Here are your winners, and still JWL World Tag Team Champions, MENG AND THE BARBARIAN, THE FACES OF FEAR!

End of show.
