Vitamin B 6 - Pyridoxine

Responsible for maintaining protein metabolism which influences amino acid metabolism and regulates the means by which our body uses fats. It works in tandem with vitamin B12 and folic acid (and all the b vitamins), aids in the formation of antibodies, and works with the central nervous system. Vitamin C and magnesium also help this vitamin do it's thing.

Present in many foods, such as beans, soybeans; in fruits such as bananas, avocados and prunes; in tuna fish, mackerel, salmon, and liver as well as white chicken meat and in lamb. It is also found in skim milk.

Destroyed in the body by steroids (such as estrogen and cortisone). Antibiotics deplete B6 quickly as well. For anyone on a high protein diet, B6 is rapidly depleted if not supplemented. When you work hard or are under stress, B6 is also rapidly depleted.
Requirements are from 2 to 2.5 mg per day for adults, less for children.
