Chapter 2

“That was Mambo #5 by the one and only Lou Bega. But now I have a special treat for all you ladies out there. I have 2 very good looking guys that just joined me here in the studio. Nick Carter and Brian Littrell from Orlando’s own Backstreet Boys. Welcome guys!” Araysa stated.

“Hey Orlando! Whaz up?” I said with a grin.

“Hallo!!” Brian said in a very happy voice.

“So, what brings you guys down here to the studio unannounced?” Araysa asked

I gave Brian a look, he just grinned and said, “We were bored so we thought we would surprise all of Orlando.”

“And I think it worked.” I added as I looked at all of the phone lines lighting up.

“Would you like to take a couple calls from some fans?” Araysa asked.

“Sure, I am always willing to talk to the fans.” I said as I flashed a big smile at Araysa. Araysa just gave me a little grin in return.

“Alright then, Hey caller, say your name and your question. And please, don’t scream it.” Araysa joked as the guys laughed.

“Hey, my name is Susie, I was just wondering if any of you have girlfriends?”

“I don’t.” I said while smiling at Araysa again.

“I do. Sorry ladies.” Brian said in a sympathetic voice.

“What about the other three?” Araysa added.

“Well, Howie and Kevin are just seeing someone, nothing serious and AJ is in a very serious relationship.” Brian said.

“Guys, this is a music radio station so I have to play more songs. You are welcome to hang around a while longer if you would like. So here we go, to 30 minutes of stoppless hits on the ZOO, Z101.3.” Araysa announced.

**Music Starts**

We just sat in silence for a moment when Brian stood up.

“Umm, where is the restroom?” He asked. My heart had stopped for a moment, I thought he was going to say something about her and I.

“Out the door, to the right, down the hall. It the last door on the left.” Araysa said.

“Thanks. I’ll be back, you two get to know each other.” Brian said as he flashed a cheezy grin in my direction. It was now just Araysa and I and I was nervous as hell. I had to say something but I didn’t want to sound like a dumb-ass.

“You are new here right?” I asked.

“Yeah.”

“Araysa, I was, umm, wondering if you would like to go out to dinner with me tonight.” I got it out. It took a bit, but I said it.

“I will have to get back to you on that one.” She said. I didn’t get it. Was this good or bad? Did I dare ask when? Why are girls so complicated?

“Alright.” I didn’t know what else to say. Just then my man came back. He always came at the right time.

“Hey B. Do you think we should get going?” He looked at me confused.

“Shouldn’t we say bye to the fans first?” Brian questioned.

“Let’s just go before there are 10,000 of them standing outside.” I said while getting up. I went over and shook Araysa’s hand.

“It was nice meeting you.” I said. She didn’t say anything. She just smiled.

“Bye.” We both said while walking out the door. Nothing was said until we got in the car.

“I’m an idiot!” I screamed as I slapped myself on the forehead.

“Nick, settle down man. What happened?” Brian asked.

“I asked her if she wanted to go to dinner with me tonight and she said “I’ll have to get back to you on that one”. What does that mean? That she hates me? What?” I said. I was really attracted to her.

“Nick, she hardly knows you. You have to talk to her before you ask her out. Let her get to know you. You are a great guy and I am sure her feeling will be different. Don’t let this knock you down. If you really want her you have to keep trying.” Brian said. He always knew what to say. He’s like the big brother I never had.

“Thanks Brian. I will talk to her again, but when I don’t know.” I said, “Let’s go get a pizza, I’m hungry!”
