What A Coincidence!!! Chapter Sixteen

It was now two weeks into the new semester. We were now back at school while the Backstreet Boys were getting ready for the second leg of their Into The Millennium tour. We all were excited because we would be spending our spring break going to BSB shows in a little over a month.

“I’m so stressed. Sometimes I wish that we wouldn’t have gone on tour. I’m so far behind.” Mandy said with a sigh.

“Well, you did change your major from business to Chemistry. There is a slight difference between the two.” Molly said back.

“Yeah I know, I think it’s more that I miss Brian.” Mandy said.

“Yea, I think we all miss the guys.” I said.

“How do you guys think I feel. I have to be split apart from my fiancee.” Ashley stated.

“I think that at one time or another we all are going to be separated from either our husbands or fiancees.” Molly said to us.

“Very true. You know I think I had the most trouble dealing with being a Backstreet girlfriend but I feel really good right now. I mean I miss Nick but I’m not all depressed like I used to be.” I said.

“Well, the fact that Nick calls everyday wouldn’t have anything to do with that would it?” Mandy said with a laugh.

“Maybe.” I said with a smirk.

Just then the phone rang. “Speak of the devil.” Ashley said as she held up the caller ID.

“I’ll take it in my bedroom.” I said.

“Please do.” Mandy said back. All the girls laughed.

I picked up the phone in my bedroom and sat down to my daily ritual of Nick.

“Hey babe, how are you?” I asked.

“How did you know it was me?” Nick asked.

“Duh, caller ID,” I laughed.

“Oh yea, that’s right.” Nick laughed back.

“So, how ya doing?” I asked.

“I’m great now that I’m talking to you.” Nick said.

“Oh you’re sweet. So you ready for the new leg?” I asked.

“Oh yea. I can’t wait to get back on the stage. I wish you could be there.” Nick said.

“I know, I wish I could too. I’ll see you in March when we are on spring break.” I said.

“I can’t wait till I can kiss you again.” Nick said, “Oh, I got my hair cut.”

“You did?!?!? What does it look like?”

“Well, it’s short and spiky.” Nick said with an obvious smile.

“Your beautiful blond hair is gone?” I asked.

“For now, but I’m sure you’ll like it. There are pictures coming in the mail for you.” Nick said.

“Okay, I’ll be looking out for those.” I said back.

“Well, girl I have to be going. We have rehearsals in an hour.” Nick said.

“Okay, I understand. I’ll talk to ya tomorrow then?” I said with question.

“Yep, I’ll be sure to call, don’t worry.” Nick said, “I love you, gotta go.”

“I love you more.” I said with a giggle as we hung up.

I put the phone down and sighed. “What a lucky girl I am,” I thought. I hugged myself and walked back out to the living room.

**********

“Nick, I saw it on the news, the hurricane. Please tell me that you are guys are safe?” I said sobbing.

“Araysa, calm down. We are fine. We decided to postpone the first two dates of the tour that’s it. We are not going to be blown away. I made it through Hurricane Andrew, I can make it through this.” Nick said with reassurance.

I had just got done watching World News Tonight, and the whole newscast was about the hurricane heading for Florida. I quick made a call to Nick. I had never been through a hurricane nor had I ever known somebody else that was going through one. I was so scared and I couldn’t stand that I was no where Nick was.

“I appreciate your concern baby, but it’s really okay. I don’t even think that’s going to come anywhere near us. We’ve been told that we’ll just get some rain and thunderstorms nothing major. I’ll tell you what, where you are tornadoes are a lot more scarier shit than hurricanes, so don’t worry.”

“Well, I feel a little bit better, but I know that I’m going to get all worked up again if I see anything on TV.” I said.

“There’s such thing as a power button on the remote. In this case, use it.” Nick said laughing.

“Ha, ha very funny.”

“Now, onto better and more important things.” Nick said, “Valentine’s Day.”

“Oooooo....Valentine’s Day. I almost forgot. You guys have a show don’t you?” I asked.

“Yea, I can’t remember where, but I know that we do. There was no way around it, but it’s all good. You’re gift will be arriving sometime soon. I believe right on Valentine’s Day if I’m not mistaken.” Nick said.

“You’re Valentine’s present will not get to until we see you in March. Since it’s not so easy to send something to somebody that’s traveling all over the US.” I said back.

“You know I don’t need anything but if you must...”

“Nickolas Gene Carter!!! I know you, and I know that you would be very disappointed if I didn’t get you anything.”

“You do know me don’t you.”

“Nick!”

“Araysa!”

Just then Mandy came into the room.

“Araysa, cut it off, we are going to be late for class and you know how long it takes to find a parking spot.”

“Yea, yea, I know.” I said to Mandy, “Well, Nickers, I have to be going.”

“Yea, me too. Anyway, remember what I said. Don’t watch the TV and don’t worry. I love you.”

“Love you too.”

“I wonder what he’s getting me.” I said to Mandy.

“What do you mean?” Mandy asked.

“My Valentine’s Day present. He said it should arrive on Valentine’s Day.”

“Yea, Brian said mine should arrive on Valentine’s Day too.” Mandy said.

“Hmmm....I wonder what they have cooked up.”

“Who knows, we’ll find out.”

A week later we found out. None of us were prepared for what the guys had in mind.
