“You’ll never guess what Nick just asked me!!” I screamed right into the phone.
“Ouch, that hurt my ears. What did he say?” Molly said back.
“He wants me to be his date for the MTV Video Music Awards next month!”
“Wow, that is so cool! Guess what! AJ wants to take me!”
“I wonder if Brian is taking Mandy?” I asked.
“I don’t know, I haven’t talked to her today. Did you ask her, you are her roommate this year ya know.”
“No, I haven’t had a chance. I haven’t seen her all day. I will when she gets in though. Talk to ya later okay?”
“Okies, talk to ya later.” Molly hung up
It had been five months since I first met Nick and the other Backstreet Boys. It was also the beginning of a new school year and Mandy and I were roommates. Molly and Ashley still lived in an apartment off campus. I had just got off the phone with Nick before I called Molly to tell her the news. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going to New York City and I would be attending the 1999 MTV Music Awards. And not only that I had the most gorgeous person to escort me. I sat down on my bed just thinking about what I possibly would wear when Mandy came rushing into the room.
“Oh my god I have a paper due, I have to work, I haven’t eaten all day, and I haven’t heard anything from Brian yet! I’m so stressed out and it’s only the second week of classes.” Mandy said while trying to catch her breath.
“Slow down girl, so that’s why I haven’t seen you all day.” I remarked.
Mandy went over to her computer and booted up her America Online. We both heard the familer “You’ve Got Mail” and Mandy’s face lit up.
“It’s from Brian. I know it is, I can feel it.”
Sure enough it was from Brian. I walked over to the computer and read the e-mail with her over her shoulder.
“Okay, it says ‘Dear Mandy, I wanted to write you a quick e-mail to ask you if you would like to be my date at this years’ MTV Music Awards. I know Nick already asked Araysa and AJ already asked Molly. I also believe so that all of you girls can be together Kevin is going to ask Ashley. E-mail me back when you get this so I know if you want to go with me. I hope so, because it wouldn’t be the same without you there to hold in my arms. I love you with all my heart.’” Molly read.
“Oh, that is so sweet. So are ya going to go?” I asked.
“Of course I’m going to go and I’m assuming that the rest of you girls are going also.”
“I know I am, this is going to rock!” I said with a smile.
“I know I don’t know how I’m going to be able wait for it.” Mandy said back.
“Well, it is only a month away so we don’t have to long to prepare. I wonder what we are going to wear. I know that Donatella Versace is going to be dressing Kevin and I would assume Nick also. I wonder if we asked politely if she would dress us too.” I asked.
“I don’t know, I’m sure we will work all of the details out in the coming weeks. Hey do you know if the guys are preforming this year? Or even if they are up for awards.” Mandy asked.
“Yea, Nick told me that they are preforming a song off of the new album. And they are up for Best Group Video again and the coveted Viewers’ Choice Award.”
“Wow, I hope they win. I know I will be voting my butt off for the Viewers’ Choice one.” Mandy said.
“Oh I know me too.” I answered back.

“Are we there yet?” Molly complained.
“Yea, only a half an hour left and then we will be in beautiful New York City!” Ashley exclaimed.
“I don’t know about you guys, but this is the first time that I have flown in First Class and I’m really enjoying it.” I said as I handed the flight attendent my glass.
“This is almost as good as that hotel we stayed at in Minneapolis when we first met the guys.” Mandy commented.
“I will never forget those two days for the rest of my life.” Ashley said.
Just then the flight attendent came over the loud speakers and announced that we would be landing at John F. Kennedy Airport in fifteen minutes and that we were to put our chairs and trays into the upright postion and to fasten our seat belts. I looked out the window and saw the Satute of Liberty down below. I teared up at the site of it. I had never been to New York City before and here I was going to be in the city and going to be able to see Nick. I couldn’t believe that it had been almost six months since I had last seen him. The plane landed smoothly and we all got off and headed for the baggage claim area.
“Now, what did Brian say were suppossed to do when we got here?” I asked Mandy.
“He said that we were to get our baggage and then go to Exit Door 15. He said that the limo and the driver should be there with our names on a card or something.” Mandy said back.
We all got our luggage and made the long trek to where we were suppossed to meet the limo. We rounded the corner and saw the driver standing in front of the limo with a card that indeed had all of our names on it. We sat our baggage down and the limo driver proceeded to put the baggage in a van behind us. The guys were smart for having another vehicle for our luggage it never would’ve fit in the limo’s trunk. As soon as the luggage was put in the van the driver walked over and opened the door to the limo for us. We all climbed inside to find that all of the guys were seated in the back of the limo just waiting for us.
“Oh my God!! You guys came to see us at the airport.” Mandy screamed as she flew at Brian and gave a big hug and kiss.
“Hey there girl I missed you so much.” Nick said to me and then started to kiss me.
“Will you two get a room!” Molly said then turned to AJ and started to kiss him.
“You should talk Molly, jeez you two could start a fire.” I said back.
After we all got reaquanited with the guys the limo pulled away from the airport and we made our way to our hotel. The guys hadn’t yet told us where we were staying so we were very surprised when we pulled up to The Plaza Hotel.
“Oh my God, this is the same hotel as in ‘Home Alone 2’ I’m so excited!!” Mandy shrieked.
The guys laughed at how in awe all of us girls were of the hotel. They were of course used to staying in places like this and sometimes even better. We unloaded all of our luggage from the vans and made our way up to our rooms. The room assignments were Mandy and I in a room next to Brian and Nick’s room and Ashley and Molly were in a room next to AJ, Kevin, and Howie’s room. The rooms were all adjoining so we would be able to open up all the doors and go in and out of the other rooms. As soon as we got all of our stuff situated the guys said that they had another surprise for us.
“I’ve made appointments for all of you girls to have Donatella Versace dress you.” Kevin said to us.
“Wow, are you serious? I love her clothes so much!” Ashley said while giving Kevin a big hug.
We all made our way downstairs and hopped back into the limo. We drove for a little ways to the Versace boutique in downtown New York City. We all got out and walked up to the door. Kevin buzzed the intercom next to the door. A second later we heard a think Italian accent come through the intercom.
“Splendid you made it. Come on in and I will be with you shortly.” a voice that was obvoiusly Donatella said.
We walked inside to find a table set up with cookies, coffee, and other finger foods. We all helped ourselves to the goodies while we waited for Donatella to come out. Soon she came down the stairs. She was so beautiful, I couldn’t believe it. I had only seen her on television before. I was completely awestruck. She came over and gave Kevin and Nick hugs as they kissed her on the cheek. She walked over to me and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“You must be the famous Araysa Nickolas has been talking about. I fitted him for a banquet a few weeks ago and all he talked about was you and how I would have such a good time dressing you.” Dontella commented.
I looked over at Nick and saw that he was blushing. I smiled at him and laughed. He laughed back. I could tell he was kind of embarressed. It was cute though. Donatella then guided us over the latest fall fashions that she had for us. Everything was beautiful. I knew that I would have a hard time choosing what I wanted to wear. Soon about five people came out of nowhere to assist in the fitting. The guys left us to get dressed on our own. They already had their outfits picked out for the awards. The assistants brought out everything for us. They asked each of us what our favorite colors were so they could narrow down the choices. Finally after three hours of sifting through moutains of clothing we all found our outfits. I selected a deep purple dress that was shimmery and came right below the knee. It was the most beautiful piece of clothing that I had ever worn. I also picked out pretty purple shoes that had a heel on them and they laced up my legs. I had my entire outfit on and walked out to show the guys to see what they thought of it.
“Wow, you look so good. I was going to give this to you tonight but I think I should see if it will go with the outfit.” Nick said.
He pulled a box out of his pocket. I opened up to find a beautiful diamond necklece and earring set. I couldn’t believe that he had bought this for me. It was probably worth more than my entire life I’m sure. Nick took the necklece out of the box and fastened it around my neck.
“Oh, that looks divine with that dress.” Donatella commented as she saw Nick put the necklace on, “You have very good taste Nickolas.”
I laughed at how she called Nick Nickolas. Nobody calls him that, not even his mother. I looked at Nick and I saw that he was trying not to laugh. After I had tried on the necklace I went back to change into regular clothes. As soon as we said our goodbyes to Donatella we stepped out of the boutique and into the awaiting limo. The guys told us that they had to do a quick interview for MTV. So the limo pulled away and we made our way to Times Square.
“Wow, this place is so cool. Quite a bit different from Winona, Minnesota!” Mandy said.
“Yea, I would say so.” I said back.
We pulled up in front of the MTV Studios and got out. All of us made our way up the place where they were going to hold the interview. All of us girls quick ducked out of the way so the group of fans in the room didn’t get a glimpse of us. Nick turned around and gave me a weird look.
“What are you doing Araysa?” he asked.
“I’m getting out of the way so the fans don’t think I’m with you. I don’t want to be the cause of a riot or something.” I said.
“They’re gonna find out sooner or later. Come on don’t worry about it.” Nick said as he took my hand.
Brian also took Mandy’s hand as AJ took Molly’s hand. Since Ashley and Kevin were just friends there was no need for them to look like a couple. Howie was also there with Allie, the girl that we had all met at the Mall of America. We all walked on stage to the sight of about hundred girls with mouths hanging open. I’m sure they were very surprised to see four of the Backstreet Boys holding hands with girls. We all sat down on the couches. Carson Daly was going to be conducting the interview. He looked just as surprised as the girls did.
“Well, guys welcome to the MTV Studios. I was going to start off asking you some questions about the awards tonight but I think we should take some time for you to introduce who guys brought with you today. Is that okay with everybody?” Carson asked.
“Yea, that’s fine. I’ll start if you don’t mind.” Brian said. “Everybody, this is my girlfriend Mandy.”
“How long have you guys been seeing each other?” Carson asked.
Mandy looked at Brian and he nodded to show that she could answer the question.
“Well, we’ve been seeing each other for about five months now, although we don’t actually get to see each other.” Mandy said as she smiled at Brian.
“Well, I hope everything goes well. Nick do you want to introduce who you brought next?” Carson asked.
“Sure thing, this is my girlfriend Araysa who I love very much.” Nick said as he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
“We’ve been seeing each other the same time as Brian and Mandy. Mandy’s actually my best friend so is Molly here and Ashley.” I said as I pointed at the other girls.
“That’s neat so how did all of you girls get to meet these guys?” Carson wondered.
“Well, it’s kinda of a long story so I’ll give you the condesened version so you can actually talk to the guys about the awards show tonight which is far more interesting as far as I’m concerned. Anyway, I won backstage passes to their concert in Minneapolis, MN. We got to meet them and everything went great. We then found out that we were staying at the same hotel. We went clubbing with them and then the mall the next day and here we are.” Molly explained.
“Thanks for setting everybody straight about that. Okay guys how about the awards tomorrow night! Are ya excited?” Carson asked.
The rest of the interview focused on the guys and the awards. After it was done Carson thanked each of the guys and said goodbye to each of us girls. We left the stage and headed back down to the limo. We all got in and decided to head back to the hotel and take naps before the big record company party tonight. Nick and I headed up to his room. Brian and Mandy decided to go into our room. We made it into Nick and Brian’s room Nick closed the door and locked it. I walked over the bed and sat down. Nick came over and sat down beside me. He put his hand on my thiegh and started to rub it. I looked into eyes and I saw so much love in them.
“Thank you for asking me to come here and everything else you done for me and the other girls so far.” I said.
“Your welcome, I love you so much and I would do anything for you.” Nick said back.
He leaned in and kissed me on the lips. It was a soft and tender kiss at first and then I felt his tounge against my lips. I opened my mouth and our tounges touched. He was such a good kisser I never wanted this to end. As we were kissing I started to lean back so we would be laying down on the bed. Nick moved down with me and was soon laying on top of me me. I felt his hand come up and start to feel him trying to get under my shirt.
“Here this might help you.” I said as I pulled off my shirt and threw it on the floor.
Nick’s eyes got really wide. I forgot that this was the first time that he had actually seen my chest area with no shirt on. I laughed at his facial expression. His hand come up and cupped one of my breasts. He then slipped down the straps of my bra and reached around to unhook it. I slipped my bra off and let it fall to the floor. Nick started to kiss my neck and slowly he went down until was kissing my breasts.
“Hey, I think that you should take your shirt off too. I like the skin to skin feel.” I said as I reached to down to pull Nick’s shirt off.
He pulled his shirt off over to his head to reveal the start of a very muscular body. I could tell that he had been working out. I wanted him so bad, but I knew that this wasn’t the time or the place to go all the way.
“Nick, I love you so much, but I think that our first time together should be special and in a special place.” I said.
“That’s okay, I understand. We can still do other stuff and kiss right?” Nick asked.
“Oh yea, defiently!” I said as Nick leaned down and started to kiss me again.
We were kissing when I felt Nick became very hard in the pelvic area. I started to rub my hand down his stomach and then I started to unbutton his pants. We laughed as we kissed as I started to put my hand down his pants. I was playing around with him when he stopped me.
“You better stop, I don’t really feel like changing if you know what I mean” Nick said with a smile.
“Yea, I know what you mean.” I said as I kissed Nick’s nose. “I’m kind of tired let’s just lay with each other and sleep okay?”
“Sounds good. I’ll set the alarm so we can get up and get ready for the party tonight.” Nick said.
“I love you Nick, more than you know.” I said.
“I love you Araysa, more than you know.” Nick said back.
We fell asleep in each other’s arms. We had been sleeping for a couple hours when the trusty alarm went off. I woke up right away and shut the alarm off. I looked down at Nick and saw that he was still sleeping. He still had shirt off so I pulled the covers down a bit so his stomach was exposed. I bent down and started to lightly kiss his stomach. He stirred a bit but didn’t wake up. I moved up to his chest kissed and him all over. I looked up and saw that he had one eye open and was smiling.
“Hello, sunshine!” I said as I came up and lightly kissed him on the lips. The kissed deepend while Nick’s hands came up and started to caress me. I pulled away from him and pointed at my watch.
“We have to get ready for the party tonight. We can continue this later.” I said as I put my bra and shirt back on.
“We defiently will continue this later.” Nick said back with a devilish grin on his face.
I walked over and knocked on the door that adjoins Nick and Brian’s room to mine and Mandy’s room. The door opened and there stood Mandy with the biggest grin on her face.
“Mandy, by the look on your face you and I have some major girl talk that needs to be discussed.” I said with a smile.
“Oh you bet, I won’t leave out any details if you don’t.”
“I promise I will tell you everything. Scout’s honor.” I said holding up three fingers.
“Brian’s in our shower I hope you don’t mind. I didn’t want to distrub you guys if you were still sleeping.” Mandy said pointing at the bathroom.
“Oh that’s no problem. I still have to pick out what I’m going to wear anyway.”
I looked through the closet trying to find something suitable for the Jive Records party tonight. Nick told me that it wasn’t too formal of an occasion but I was to dress up a bit. I found my tight black polyester pants and a satin type shirt that had race cars and checkered flags all over it. Soon Brian came out of the shower.
“Oh hey Araysa, how was your nap?” Brian said smiling.
“Just fine, I slept really well. I think Nick did too.”
I hopped into the shower and turned the water on. I loved showers more than anything in the world. I was shampooing my hair when I heard a knock on the door. I peeked around the shower curtain.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“It’s Nick. Mandy’s using our shower and I need to take one. Is it okay if I come in?” Nick asked through the door.
“Are you saying you want to take a shower together?” I asked back.
“Yea, I know it’s a little forward but I really want to.” Nick said.
“Okay, you can come in but you better behave.”
The door opened and Nick came in. I was getting really nervous because Nick would see me completely naked. I’m very self-consiscious about my body. I saw through the curtain that Nick was undressing. He had such a gorgeous body. After he was done taking his clothes off he stopped and looked through the curtian.
“Okay, who wants to peek first?” He asked.
“You can peek first Nick, you’ve already seen my top half anyway. Just be warned that I’m really nervous, I’m so self-consisicious about my body.”
Just then Nick’s head came peeking around the curtian. He gave me the once over and smiled. I smiled back because I knew that he at least like what he saw intially.
“Why are you so nervous you have a beautiful body.” Nick said as he stepped into the shower. Now it was my turn to give him the once over. I was melting he was so gorgeous and he had such a good body. I pulled him to me and started kissing him. I rubbed my hands up and down his chest. He pulled away from me for a second.
“Hey, I thought I came in here for a shower!” Nick laughed.
“Well then let me wash you okay. I’m already done so you missed out. Sorry, next time though” I said back.
After we were done we both stepped out and started to dry oursleves off. I put a towel on and so did Nick. We opened the door and stepped out of the bathroom, there was Kevin and Howie in front of us with both of their mouths hanging open.
“Well, well looks like you too are getting very comfortable with one another.” Kevin said with a smile.
“Yea, Frack I didn’t think you had it in ya.” Howie said back.
“Well, believe it. Now will you guys kindly get out of here so we can change?” Nick said shooing the guys out of the room.
After we both got dressed Nick went back into his room to finish up getting ready and I started to blow-dry my hair and put makeup on. When everybody was finished getting ready we met in the living room area down at the end of the hall. As soon as everybody was there we made our way onto the elevator and down to the reception room where the Jive Records party was that evening.
