FOREVER LOVE
TO: BROWN OWL AND LILY OF THE POND
THERE WAS A TIME IN MY LIFE,
WHEN I NEEDED NO ONE,
I WENT TO WORK EACH DAY,
AND CAME HOME ALL ALONE...
I WOULD COOK A MEAL JUST FOR ONE,
AND SIT IN SOLITUDE,
THERE WAS NO ONE TO SHARE IT WITH,
NO ONE IN WHICH TO INCLUDE...
FOR YEARS THIS WAS MY LIFE,
EVERYTHING I DID WAS FOR ONE,
I THOUGHT I WAS OK THIS WAY,
UNTIL YOU CAME ALONG...
NOW THE SUN SEEMS BRIGHTER,
THE RAIN, IT SMELLS SO SWEET,
THE FLOWERS SEEM TO BLOOM,
EVERYWHERE I PLACE MY FEET...
THE CLOUDS WERE SOMETHING THAT I WATCHED,
FOR ONLY AN IMPENDING STORM,
BUT NOW THEY TAKE ON LOVELY SHAPES,
IN THEIR FLUFFY AND DREAMY FORMS...
I CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN THE BIRDS,
FLEW IN SUCH A GRACEFUL WAY,
I NEVER NOTICED THEM BEFORE,
UNTIL YOU CAME TO ME THAT DAY...
NOW WATER FALLS ARE PEACEFUL,
AND THE WIND SINGS BEAUTIFUL SONGS,
THE OCEAN SEEMS TO SPEAK YOU NAME,
WHEN YOU ARE AWAY TO LONG...
I DON'T KNOW HOW I DID IT,
FOR ALL THOSE EMPTY YEARS,
WHERE WERE YOU ALL MY LIFE,
TO DRY AWAY MY TEARS...
I FEEL SO SAFE FROM LIFE'S DANGERS,
YOU ARE A GIFT FROM UP ABOVE,
WITH YOU I HAVE NO FEARS,
YOU ARE MY FOREVER LOVE.
