SILVER SERVICES TO FLORIDA
Northbound Silver Meteor

Lawtey, Fl; December 1999.
A CSX freight train was victim of a derailment on the A-line. Both Silver Meteor and Silver Star northbounds were rerouted through the S-line. The Meteor speeds toward Baldwin. In a few minutes, it will be the turn of the southbound Sunset Limited which was also rerouted that day.

Kissimmee, Fl; July 1997.
The late Silver Meteor just met with the Silver Star southbound south of town and is now getting ready to pick up some frustrated passengers.

Sanford, Fl; February 2000.
Sanford is now just another quick stop on the route. What is left of the wide and long platform and the main building in the background, might suggests that this might have been a more important stop in the past.

Folkston, Ga; March 1999.
The Florida Funnel at its best; a few railfans on a beautiful Spring day gets their patients rewarded when an unidentified object hit the DD box at Boulogne; length of train: 782 feet. This is no short CSX local. There is no more talking. We are all glued to the scanner. The next transmission is at South End. And then, it is showtime time. The headlights come out from around the curve without a sound. All 3200 hp effortlessly pull the the train up the slight grade to Folkston then slip by downtown leaving only dust and diesel fume in the air.

Savannah, Ga; August 1997.
I just got in town looking for a motel and hear the horn of an inbound. I run to the Terminal and find the northbound Silver Meteor getting ready to pick up some passengers.
