Apalachicola Northern
Roster
Steam ran until 1954. All 5 Pacifics that AN ever owned, came from the FEC. Before the downsizing of January 1999, the roster was comprised of 3 of the 28 GP15T ever built, 3 SW9 and 8 SW1500 all bought new which is quite rare for a short line. The SW1500 are equipped with Flexicoil trucks. The downsizing strategy consisted in divesting from the engines. All 3 of the SW9s were sold, 2 went to CYDZ, and the other to RMPX. Four of the 8 SW1500s went to Helms leasing.
Chattahoochee (River Junction), Fl; July 1999.
Sad moment for AN 710 with its new CYDZ marking, waiting to be picked up in Chattahoochee after being sold to one of their plants in Michigan.

Telogia, Fl; July 1999
AN 712, one of the remaining SW1500 with flexicoil trucks and AN721 a rare GP15T, are part of train # 72 consist switching at the lumber plant.

Albany, GA; June 1999.
Helms got  4 of the SW1500s. The first assignment of 2 of them, 717 and 718, was in Albany, Ga for Railnet, Georgia & Florida’s new owner.

A lot of the box cars that were owned by AN were relettered for the Bayline. Most of the AN box cars were painted either blue or yellow.
